A movie based on Freelancer storyline x'D

  • Have any of you thought about making a fan-film? This is something that is done quite often for both Star Wars and Star Trek. As long as your not making money off of it I doubt MS would care...

    Since Hollywood is "in the mood" of making movies based on videogames, like "Streetfighter", "Dragon Ball", "Tekken" (2010), "Metal Gear Solid" (2011?) and "Mortal Kombat: Devastation" (definitely want to see this one! :D ) (2010), they could think of making one based in "Freelancer"! ahahah :lol:

  • Hmmm yeah, I was thinking about it all last night, for the first time.


    My idea was that to extensively modify the storyline missions, which I believe thn files as well and have it all cutscene appearance as a mission.


    So you run the game, and then you go new game in SP mode and the movie starts like that. So it won't be a video, but a movie Freelancer game engine plays out to you which you can edit at any time!


    I already started my fascination with it, first to switch Donau in mission 1 into a Rheinland Battleship, there's still an immensly lot more to go!


    I hope I can make it all the way to the end of mission 13 if I can do it. A lot of close up Freelancer dogfighting camera shots will be great. I should look back on the movies of star wars, Stealth and other movies which have good scenes and presentation of great ideas and think about incorporating those strategies into the missions.


    Walker should survive too to have a Cruiser in mission 13


  • Sounds pretty good, the Donau as a petty cruiser kindof sucked in the game, but a battleship might make it more suspenseful.

    The Donau is now a Rheinland Battleship, I will need to recode the formations codeblocks so the rheinland fighters don't have to be so awkward since there isn't any space as the enormous battleship takes it up. Exploding effects are the same where the components just disappear without the big chunks coming out.


    .thn files are already being modified and I have resulted in different camera angles which I found very enjoyable to me. My computers can't really do fraps I don't think because it would affect the game performance heavily straight away, so I got to find something else to make a movie preview.


    missions .ini files have had modifications done to make the timers play the thn camera views longer. I just been able to do it all up to the point where the Donau is completely obliterated and you have to engage the enemy. That is all of it is cutscene viewing until that point.


    Perhaps the Rheinland battleship should be flanked by escort Rheinland cruisers as well
    and it will be more enjoyable if I had multiple Liberty Dreadnoughts very close almost next to Newark too and strategic positions that would cover the Donau!


    The order I think would perhaps have somehow been able to obtain Kusari gunboats and use them to make a missile run. They would have the gunboats use Forward guns. I plan to get the Order to use a different approaching strategy and that is from the top of the target and they dive down...however it is logically well armoured the top of the Rheinland battleship so they might have to come from the bottom instead.

  • fraps is very light weight dosn't use much in the way of resources i use it for gaming with very hardware intensive games such as stalker :)

    2gigs of ddr400 ram
    AMD 2400 + processer=2 gigs (not a sempron) is a Duron vary stabile and fast processer and not very expensive
    6600 nvidia video card
    160 gig western dig.7200 rpm hd
    160 gig slavewesterndig 7200 rpm hd
    not a very intensive sys but configered right and plays games very well
    all the rest are hard core but this is my fav because it go's were others fear to tread,and always comes back
    have some older sys for older games but rarely used u can build this machine very cheap and mod your heart out as i run several programs in the background along with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyn,STALKER Clear Sky and of course FreeLancer,with many mods,the video card was bought new four years ago and used in several machines one hard drive was new the other came with the emachine the ram is so very cheap the dvd burner cost more then it did,the case was from one of my hard core gamers machines i call toy boxs it is five years old,was bought new has xp home from emachines,just cleaned out all the junkware, it all in how it's configered use it to test games and beta os's sometimes at the same time it will play crisis but really needs and 8800 nvidia card for it


    don't get me wrong i'm not bragging just pointing out that you do not need a lot of muscle to mod or game just a good lean machine with good cooling kept clean inside and out as you speacialize in game mods i build Custom Gaming Rigs ...or Toy Box's hehehe :geek:

  • Unfortunately for me, none of my computers are as good. They are classed as ancient when compared to your potent intensive hardware, so just running fraps my computers wouldn't be able to handle much.


    I got some good stuff working now, the Rheinland battleship effects are awesome on the cutscene view. I will need to finalize formations and make a better escort as well as having Liberty Dreadnoughts and Cruisers guarding strategic positions.


    The major problem is the need to make new rooms for different scenes like a prison ward of the Liberty Dreadnought and the most difficult yet, the need to have Trent, Juni, King, Walker the major cast voices I need to engineer and create. The actors will need me to pay them an amount I don't think I can even earn...

  • That's good to hear, but if there is anyone here that is willing to submit sound file of them speaking their quotes and phrases.


    Plus, they will need to sound like the actors that were chosen to create the voice overs for them.


    I wonder if there is some kind of sound morpher I can use so that my voice can be morphed into the soundwaves much like the cast that are involved Trent, Juni, King, Walker...... the rest


    I have got a battleship formation at the beginning of m01A where rheinland cruisers flank the Rheinland Donau Battleship.


    The order ships are far more than 5, up to 16 at least and are all launching torpedos along with their missile salvos at the battleship.


    This means that the rheinland cruisers are also engaging order ships once the Donau battleship has been destroyed. :D


    At this point, I am working on getting the Liberty Dreadnought, named the Battleship Colorado to use the tradelane for emergency reinforcements from west point to manhattan. It will dock with the tradelane as soon as the Donau is hit, then as soon as it arrives it will move a short distance, stop there and it's turrets will begin engaging the Order Fighters.

  • I was able to get the voice working, (which is strange for me as I hear myself blurting my own jibberish out again).


    I had it all coded out just right for playing the voice from .utf file but it still didn't work, because a Condition statement was coded in a manner which made it difficult for Freelancer to detect.
    I discovered that by having a Cnd_DistShip from the tradelane ring with a value of 100 at the end it doesn't seem to register and you need a longer distance for it to detect the ship. Studying other mission files, I found that if I used a value of 1500 it is more stable and can pick up the distance the battleship was from the tradelane ring.


    It was great watching it come out of the tradelane and move to the spot where I intended it to. However as soon as I heard myself talk it sounded very awkward. It's almost like the whole game just stopped everything and blurted my voice out of the speaker. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:


    I will see if I can transfer to lancers reactor the mod so far so you guys can have a look, you might find it funny to hear me talk out of the game :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
