Hostile Factions

    Along those same lines, I have a question about reputations. What if I &quot;accidentally&quot; shoot some liberty ships? Ok, maybe I should explain. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I wanted to try being a pirate, but hadn´t played the game much so I decided to just find a freighter, formed up with it until it was a ways away from a base, then I started shooting it. It eventually blew up and I had to kill the escort (liberty ships), but I was saddened to find no cargo... <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> How does one be a pirate at all? The game &quot;features&quot; on the box talk all about &quot;choose your own destiny&quot;, but I can´t figure out how to actually BE a pirate (ie, make a living off it). Anyway, I digress. So now Liberty hates me. Obviously I could try a bribe to get back in their good books, but is there another way? And how do I survive in the Liberty sector without getting killed now?     Does all of Liberty hate you? Check your faction list... if the various Liberty groups are still green (or neutral), they´re hatred is only temporary. In fact, it might be localized to whatever bases/planets are near the spot you made your piratey attacks. Go elsewhere in Liberty space, come back later (hour or two, perhaps), and you should be okay... assuming they don´t con red, of course. I once did some pirating at the New York/California jumpgate... had about 20 ships gunning for me. After finishing them off, I went to see Juni (story mission, natch), and later, about 5 hours later, both of us came through that same jumpgate into New York... oops, everybody remembered me! Kinda funny with Juni just casually talking about the current mission, and a dozen Navy and Corporate ships chasing me all around the gate area (had to wait for Juni to finish her speech so I could get the next waypoint).
