Yeah that is how you do it. I just blast the thing and wait for a convoy to try to get through, then blast it and take the cargo. It works pretty good in the busier systems, but in the slower ones it can sometimes be a while before a convoy comes by for me to rob.

I have an interesting theory as you go through the trade lanes, you can click on the trade lane ring ahead and check its health status, and since the rings are about 6Ks apart, you can hit free flight asap if you see it disrupted, which if done correctly and fast enough would put you 5Ks away from the enemy. then all you have to do, is turn around and use the ring you just came through to run away in the direction you just came from never tested it though, cos I prefer taking out the bastards who disrupts my journey

Ah, but sometimes the disrupting party is neutral or friendly towards you... nothing personal, just "business". <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I suppose it´s possible that the FL developers planned to have only the Lane Hacker faction capable of disrupting trade lanes, but then later decided to make it possible for anyone.

somewhere in the game there is a piece of info regarding to which the lane hackers possess technology enabling them to disrupt the lanes with great precision, thus kicking only the transport out of the lane, while the escort flies on to the end of the lane without being able to defend the transport. yep, that´s how they do it. pretty smart, if u ask me.
