Lack of multiplayer servers

After not playing Freelancer for many years and switching to the Mac, I have successfully installed Freelancer on my Mac using Crossover. Everything runs fine, except I can never get a list of multiplayer servers. I've tried editing the freelancer.ini file, I've tried running the Global Server Workaround and I've tried running the Discovery mod with it's own server settings and nothing ever happens. It just hangs at the 'connecting to global server...' message. Looking on the LAN list does nothing as well.

Any ideas?

I've played around with Wine for a few things before and its only recently I've started using Crossover for most things instead of Wine, so hopefully I'll be able to modify any instructions you could provide accordingly. If that fails I'll try it in Wine anyway.
