FPS in game

  • Hello there, I just want to ask if any of you guys can help me out with increasing of my fixed 60 FPS in game.

On the old computer I used to have fps around 100-150, what was just enough and such good for aiming in pvp's. Later on I bought new notebook with ATI Radeon graphics, very powerfull for old game like Freelancer. So I hoped fps in game would be around 200. What a dissapoint when I found out that fps was/is still fixed at 60, no more no less. On the other games its just fine, for example in old game like counter strike 1.6 I have 100 fps without any problems. Here comes my questions, how can I increase that fps in FL ? In fact is there any way how to do it ? Thanks a lot.

  • It's probably an issue with vertical sync. But even if you turned said option off in the drivers, the panel on your notebook most probably doesn't go beyond 75 Hz vertical refresh, while most probably being locked at 60 at it's native resolution. This means that you'd probably only ever achieve a "tearing" effect, seeing the image being torn into two different frames at the middle. Cinema is 24 FPS, television is 25 or 30. The human eye rarely has a faster integration time than 15 milliseconds, which translates to 66,67 Hz (or FPS). Anything above it is overkill and only those who specifically look for differences between 60, 100 and 200 see them, and even then it's a psycho-effect, not a real physical phenomenon... Relax and shoot you down some unwary pilots ;)
