collisions

  • What did it do then??? its a hard thing to do - what you want is an option that says above the speed of whatever, there are no collisions with asteriods, but I just dont think that the programming is dynamic enough to do that, sorry. One thing I have realised is that if you go fast enough, the computer tends to not handle collisions too well, so it cant calculate them in time at the speed you are going to, and by the time it has, your about 8 miles past it! try that - really really really high speeds!

  • lol I´ve tried setting the CRUISING_SPEED to 100000. If you now create waypoint the ship will never reach it. It´s flying around and around this waypoint. This is damn fast I must admit. Yes this does function in asteroid fields but you have to be very careful and you have to be fast in aborting the cruise fly. Isn´t it possible to turn off collisions generally, not dependend from speed?

  • Not that I know about, unless you want to re-programe the whole of fl, in which case, good luck and let me have it when you are done! Mind you, its bloody fun flying at those speeds hehehe!

  • thx 2 all This works for me (very very simpel try): rename or delete the asteroids folder in DATA/SOLAR and there won´t be any asteroids anymore sure this isnt a solution for miners or graphic freaks but there are no annoying collisions anymore <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>))))))))))) I hope that it has no side effect (requires more testing)

  • There is a way of doing this, the Reynen mod allows you to fly through asteroids (you should have seen the look on the other peoples faces when I berrelled out of a huge asteroid straight at them <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> ). Maybe send him a quick email asking for help?
