Update on 24/7 UK dedicated server

    Arlight, we are having a bit dificulty banning cheaters, some ppl we can ban, some we just cant, they cheat, the server console starts displaying error messages, we reboot, the server gets ok, untill that person comes in then it gets all over again, we input the ban command, and we get an error message, the same happens with the kick command. These seems to be a new class of cheater, the "imune to banning cheater", anyone had this experience? got some solutions? Feel free to share

    Remote Admin? ... Remote ADMIN?!?! lol, sorry, we have been looking for this for the **UK SERVER** and did not know if it existed. <THUNDERBIRD> seem to be the equivalent of OWL on your server, except we havent been able to have admin powers. Could you please tell us where we could get remote admin from? Thanks, Cogen

    Thanks, we´ve got the server accessible on my computer now, via telnet... but echo is on and its very hard to check what I am writing. i know it says that if echo is on to turn it off in the readme, but i dunno how to change the echo settings <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I´m sure its simple, and any help would be appreciated.     I really cant help you man, the telnet remote is very buggy, we cant even ban people properly, we know who cheats, they show off and lag the server to hell and we cant ban them, its really sad. They are a band of russian idiots that cant even speak proper english, i tried to reason with them and got replys like &quot;me cheat fun&quot; or &quot;i play mod&quot; or &quot;you ban me no -_-&quot; so i just mailed the server prime admin and im hoping that he can handle them. The most ridiculous thing is that they dont even leave new york, they just stay there, bring in more friends, group with them, and lag the server even worse, so they dont even play the game, its just about damaging the server.

    remember you can do a player search, so if you have a partial nickname you can find it to match a screenshot, I use that for any with ascii nicks and use there Ident created by FLadmin to ban them rather than using the name as I find it doesnt send the correct characters sometimes when kicking or banning. So if there lagging it that badly just stop the server; search for the nicks; ban them and then restart it. Edited by - Pinger on 13-07-2003 21:17:35

    Ahh, I have found a new client I prefer with no echo, so thats one problem solved... but i was wondering, is it possible to use the console over telnet to chat to a particular person or system instead of the entire universe?     its covered in the readme but search partial nickname eg search owl Then you should get a list of nicknames on the server containing owl, then you can ban them via there nickname or the userID number given. <b>searchban userID </b> Safer this way as simmilar nicknames can get banned at the same time by mistake if you just <b>ban nickname </b>.
