    I don´t understand how DA allowed mods on servers from the client side. They could have prevented that. Ya it takes some time to do it, but it´s not rocket science. -Rubicon Life is a sexually transmitted disease.

    if they would have hashed into a dword every player usable component of significance and then forced client to exchange hashes with the server list of hashes, meaningful mods would not be possible. If a server wanted a mod, DA could have provided a hash producer, and it could be added to the approved hash list. dword is 4 bytes, minimal traffic (~5-~10 extra seconds) on connect. any mod a user wants to use contains the same generated hash, and he puts in his MP hash list. server says hash is in his list, good to go. server says hash not in his list, bye-bye cheater. problem solved. so simple. it´s really that simple. -Rubicon Life is a sexually transmitted disease.

I´m the cheif of server police on Freeport 3 we had I_am_a_modder on our server, spawned goods infront of manhattan... cardy, DBs, you name it and PKed anyone that got in his way, even with our admin sanctioned uber shields and *tweaked* weapons we were no match for him as far as I remember he piloted a nomad energy mine with one tweaked cerebus. the way we got rid of him was to trace his IP and ban that whole range. (done by setting a firewall on the server PC) hope I helped

    I love when people summon topics from last year. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Anyway some tip for ip banning: if the guy have static ip then its easy but if it comes to dynamic ip then banning range like 12.34.250.* isnt enough. Youll have to ban whole ISP(or isp´s region). either get ISP ip string or do &quot;whois&quot; on the IP and most likely you´ll get all randges this ISP using. they can be 82.13.*.* and 121.45.*.* I am not an FL admin but from experience of running http servers and trying to enter other forums from which i was banned i have to tell you. If someone really wants to get inside he will get in.

    Yeah, I remember I_am_a_modder. Back on that server in the day we had the Freeport 3 Police. We would enforce the rules in the New York System such as the No Player Killing Rule. One day that Modder guy came out and started spawning cardamine. I pked him and his cargo with a single sunslayer. Then he got all mad and started Modding everyone to death because I killed him. We eventually banned him as Firestorm said. He also for awhile used his cousins PC, but then I found out threw that cousin that he was not allowing him to use the mods on his PC anymore etc. Well the cousin said that Modders life is a sad one, I´ll end it like that. There was something else I wanted to say, but I forgot.
