´Subversive´ code could kill off software piracy

<b>sensored!! i would have to kill u if i revealed this </b> the first one that started using some thing that doesnt let it copy was the sims, but it might have been on an earlier game A note to freighter fighter: I STOPPED A MONTH AGO!! oops!! sorry Fear Factor "Turn left at fork in road...... you spell censored with a "C" @EB: Fade DID work in flashpoint, for the most part. i remember LANS where alot of people forgot about fade and installed the game on every machine from a few legit copies, like my disk (i buy games). about a few hours in, everyone who didnt have the cd in the drive had a real bad time trying to shoot people. -arcon ------ <img src=´http://www.3dactionplanet.com/…ight/arcon/familyGuy3.gif ´> "Never offend people with style when you can offend them with substance." --Sam Brown

Correct me if im wrong but.. if it includes some anticd/dvd stuff, why not just install the game and use a no-cd crack... like 90% of the worlds population does?
-
yeah, but then you still BUY the CD. for the most part alot of people dont have a problem with that cause an original was bought somewhere and at some point that file will be deleted. Fade is primarily designed to stop people copying CDs or creating ISOs for w4r3z monkeys to spread all over IRC. -arcon ------ <img src=´http://www.3dactionplanet.com/…ight/arcon/familyGuy3.gif ´> "Never offend people with style when you can offend them with substance." --Sam Brown

dont think that would work with this system "What? Another girl! Tell me my boy. *whispers* what have you been doing?" - Tobias

Dunno, I´m a lamer at this, but I sure saw a cracked Flashpoint. Anyway, I think the race CD protection vs. pirates is somewhat similar to viruses vs. antiviral software. That´s just my opinion. Just remember...if the world didn´t suck, we´d all fall off.

i, ages ago, thought that the simple way to prevent game piracy was id codes: each game comes with an ID on the manual. That code is the ONLY one that will work with that bit of software as its written into the code of the game. If you choose to register your copy of the game, you give your a username and password for that code. Now if you want to reinstall the game you just type the password in, but if you ever play online or something, it checks your username and password. Also, like the HL Key, if your playing multiplayer, there should be a master server that check your CD Key again. if the key already exists, anywhere online, you get booted. -arcon ------ <img src=´http://www.3dactionplanet.com/…ight/arcon/familyGuy3.gif ´> "Never offend people with style when you can offend them with substance." --Sam Brown

there is indeed a cracked Flashpoint, zlo, I got hold of one to try out the game. I liked it so I bought the legit copy. in principle I don´t approve of piracy and I wouldn´t miss it if it stopped, but I admit I make use of it on occasion for convenience and economy.
