Why the hell anyone wants to be a mod??? It hard work to follow all those kids spamming around. Why? just to be able to say "click"? Or is it something about be in power? Mod is not power its obligation. note: if you after decorating your name with "(moderator)" you´ll be bad mod anyway.
How do you become a moderator?

Titles dont make people respectable. I rely more on actions. edit, copy&paste: Damn spelling. Edited by - moby on 2/25/2004 1:27:06 PM

And spelling ? Lol, sorry. I know some people don´t have english as a first language, and all posts are supposed to be in english so they´re at a disadvantage. I´ve seen some locked topics though, and I don´t really see why it was locked. The mods give a reason, but it doesn´t really seem to be valid. EB (i think) locked a topic because it "hurt his brain?". It just seems ridiculous sometimes and unfair. I had a topic locked (by FF? Sorry, I don´t know everyone well) by joking about spamming, but I don´t think he saw it as a joke, so I sent an e-mail explaining. It just helps to have some warning sometimes before a topic is locked, and give the forumers a chance to debate whether or not the reason given by the mod constitues a lock, but not a really long debate, like 2 lines or something.

Anyone saw the Matrix (if not, you´ve been hiding with Osama in a cave I guess). Neo doesn´t ask to become the one. The great leader Morpheus asks him to fulfill that task. Same goes for a moderator. A site can´t have dozens of it. I´ve been asked to become one because I was serving the community for a good three years, helping anyone who had problems. Dn´t expect to become one, because only a few will have that privilege. -- The Lancersreactor: where the screenshots are never blurry, and the spammers get publically kicked around. The Lancersreactor FAQ The use of signatures

But not three years without spamming, without asking to become a mod etc. Ergo con sum Wolf, stop thinking about it -- The Lancersreactor: where the screenshots are never blurry, and the spammers get publically kicked around. The Lancersreactor FAQ The use of signatures

I´ve been a mod now for 8 months and i can tell you it´s not an easy job especilaly when mad spammers/flammers come and start attacking your board, that happened to me on my first day

Hi Guys... I´m still deciding on a completly dictatoric (sp?) way who is becomming moderators and editors (news/mod posters). The numbers are dependent on the amount of work needed and the amount the current staff members can give. If the is to big a difference, and I often quickly see that, I try to find some candidates, and run them through the oppinion of the current staffers. If they concur, I ask the people nominated, and then they are contacted by me, and introduced into the work needed by the current staffers. As it stands now, I think the current staff is doing an awesome job, and they have my biggest gratitude and admiration. And I don´t feel we have a problem with not moderation enough or missing out news due to the lack of manpower. But I know from experience and running this site for over 4 years, and running other Internet fansites as long as 9 years ago (!!!), that there is some continuing exchange of people on the roster (sp?). Anyway... To become a staff member, you would have to participate in the community, and show your merits, like has been mentioned before. If the need arises, I would try to single out the people, I deem that best candidates. So it is no application work... Hope that clarifies it a bit... Best Regards Christian "Bargib" Koerner Editor in Chief, The Lancers Reactor
