Internet game stalls then crashes on me plz help

 • Well, i guess you´ll have to stay eternal n00b. lol seriously have you tryed to re-install the game? To me it sounds like a mod, but for either cases reinstall.

 • Thanks for the reply! Here´s the deal: formatted harddrive, freshly installed WinME with DX9.0b Updated drivers for: -graphics -modem Bios updated to latest version Fresh install of Freelancer (NO mods... I didn´t even install flmm) installed the v 1.1 patch from Microsoft (I know, it´s primarily for server ops, but I´m desperate here) Another note: works perfectly over LAN and singleplayer, but freaks out over the Internet. It´s probably got to do with my 56K connection, but I´m not really sure... I hope someone else can offer me some intelligent help.

 • Nope... All games run fine. But then again, because of my connection speed I tend not to play them online, soooo... I wouldn´t really know how well they play on the ´net.

 • Hers´s your problem buddy. The same thing happened to me. I think because you are on a 56 k connection, you shou bad connection, so when you buy that rhino, it takes a while for the game to realize it. Same thing with weps. If you sell a wep or shield or something, you will not recieve the money for like a minute max. The thing with the rhino is that the game was trying to process the purchase, but your 56 k connection took it a while. So when you launched, it crashed. I am guessing you better get DSL/Cable connection. Please correct me if I´m wrong.

I´ve been thinking the same thing. However: I get a ´server disconnected´ message EVERY time I purchase a new ship, while buying individual parts (such as new weapons and a countermeasure dropper) works perfectly! So that kinda rules out your theory in my specific case... Ah, I wish broadband was available here in the Highlands of Scotland. Unfortunately, since this is such a remote area, the only viable broadband would be through satelite. And that´s just way to expensive to my taste... "Never interupt your enemy, when he´s making a mistake" -Napoleon Bonaparte

 • Thanks again for the replies... No mods are active, since I haven´t even installed one yet. I recently formatted my HD, and FL was a clean install: no flmm, no mods; just the v1.1 patch from MS. I´ll try to remove FL and then full install it again, but I´m losing hope here... Anyway, thank for the assistance so far. Any more ideas perhaps? "Never interupt your enemy, when he´s making a mistake" -Napoleon Bonaparte

 • No dice. Uninstalled FL, rebooted and then installed it again. No luck. It still crashes every single time I try to buy a new ship. The lag seems to be more bearable now though, as I was able to complete my first mission (yay!). However, since I´ve received damage during the mission, I tried repairing my ship. That resulted in a disconnection from server. This also happens EVERY time. *sigh* I´m running out of theories, ideas and hope. So, please... anyone? help!
