well i tried doing one of those downloads for my game but i too think the updates come out way too fast. i would like it better if there was a limit on the same mods u submit.(not really a limit) you should only be able to submit an update for the same mod every week or so. i understand if its a bad bug <img src=´http://www.cliphoto.com/earth/e-037.gif ´><img src=´http://www.cliphoto.com/earth/e-031.gif ´> this is my world; it goes round and round and round The wolfy types like a cow

Yes - please see Freelancer Explorer - in dire need of a patch or anything that would allow you to make systems. My thread is probabily the only thing that lets most poeples systems work. It is incredibly complex program of course - but the fact is that if you make a system with encounters, zones and stuff that you plan out - it WILL crash. No two ways about it.

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> The current version of this program was not made by us. Even so I have only had 1 problem with the current version and that being the infocard support. Zones, encounters, and everything else work fine as long as you know what you are doing. The only other issue is that there are quite a few things you have to edit manually like asteroid/nebulae´s and property flags.

Saying poeple should build mods that don´t need 3 patches within 24 hours, well at least those mods being made are getting some support..........

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Support is great but if there weren´t any bugs in the first place there wouldn´t be a need for it. I can point to my projects as examples, not perfect but I get almost no complaints about bugs. I´m not trying to put down the other mod makers but I think they just need to learn a better method of testing for problems.

Aye - too true - was just defending some of the large mods. Mine contains 1000 files that are NOTHING to do with ships - rebal has about 800 non ship related ones (but alot are the same files reproduced for the options he made). Its good being accurate, but 1000 files of modded stuff is alot. Sure, alot are just base files and small, but like Mbases is near twice the size it used to be (evo has around about 60 new bases in it all told). For some though - perhaps just removing it is easiest? With patrols, those just don´t work, so they might be best off removed...... The nebulas i just don´t get. It works sometimes, is it if they try to delete them or something?. It is a great tool, but at the same time - it should come with a warning about editing too much without testing . By the way, is there no way to fix it so it can use consecutive numbers in its own dl? as it seems to "erase" ones already made when writing new ones.......have no clue how it does this at all. Also - what does it use to re-encode the ini files? Any chance that could just be released seperately so we can re-compress some? , cause right now the only reason i have FL Explorer is cause it can recompress large fils (mbases especially) Edited by - Chips on 2/21/2004 6:22:46 AM

Well they say bigger isn´t always better Personally I have not had any trouble with setting up patrols with FLEXP so I am not sure what is going on with that. Perhaps if you shared with me the method most people are trying to use I can offer corrections. The infocard thing will probably take several versions to fix since they aren´t even usable at this point. As far as the re-compress feature goes I was tempted to have our programmer remove that since there is no advantage that I can see in recompressing the ini files. However if its something more people are interested in then perhaps releasing a seperate tool similar to bini or perhaps modifying bini to allow it to compress files may be possible.

b4 FL was released we had things to talk about on the news page besides mods like the latest screenshots, birthdays of regulars, E3 movies, interviews from the Dev´s and the like which provided more depth. Even then we had complaints about the context of the front page. We used to change the poll question about once or twice a month too. I think it´s just a normal transgression of a fan site to have the only news is enhancements to the game IMHO. We hear ya moby and your suggestion is valid, but we don´t have the content to put more variety out there at this time. At least the items aren´t weeks old like other dying fan sites you know? Wait until the next gem from Digital Anvil starts making news and then see if the front page is full of nothing but mod news.

Maybe the Front Page should be updated with non-FreeLancer stuff daily, but in a secluded spot or something. Like a link to Msn.ca. They have regular news and it´d be convenient for the site to highlight an article or two with links. Just to keep the gamers in touch with the outside world .

Porn!!!

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2>Y´know, that might make the site more popular tenfold...

cracking idea! why not? at least then we wouldn´t have a load of threads by tawaklana and esquilax about news items (like the toilet blowing up in Stoke" lol now that was funny!) I think to have the odd new item about major events in the world might generate more interest! -/-/-/-/-/-/-/- <img src=´http://www.freewebs.com/cardamine/images/header2.jpg ´> - The home of Freelancer: Rebirth, the prequel to Freelancer!

I´ve always thought the front page was OK how it is. It´s professional, yet nice to look at and useful. Guess I must just be easily pleased, lol "If it aint on fire, you haven´t shot it up bad enough yet" - my old teacher on Planet Housten.
