Nova Cannon

I´ve had the same problem....what gives?
-
You have to hold down the fire button until about half your weapons energy is drained, at which time just release to fire. The longer you hold down the fire key/trigger the more damage the Nova cannon does.
-
It´s really hard to aim unless your trying to hit a slow moving target. "Shazbot!" --Starsiege Tribes

Yeah, it´s actually not all that useful(imho), except maybe for softening up Kurgens. "Diplomacy is the art of saying, "Nice doggie" while picking up a rock." -Anonymous Peace through superior firepower!

I disagree. I think it´s a damn fine weapon and use almost exclusively. I can clear out an entire squadron of fighters pretty quickly by only using the nova canon. I always have my nova canon charging, whether I have a target or not, so it is ready to fire. Also, some people may not know, but you don´t have to lead a target with the nova canon, just aim directly at it.
-
I didn´t know that you don´t have to lead it, I never used it on a fighter before, I think I am going to give a go tonight. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Thanks for the tip. Malkav the Dutchy.

Here´s a little more information on how to use the nova canon effectively. It´s top range is just under 50 km. The more energy you have allocated to your guns, the quicker the canon will be ready to fire but, even if you have no energy allocated to weapons, it will still fire (just slowly).
-
That doesn´t work for me. I´m using the phoenix, and I start holding down fire, but when I release it nothing happens.
-
Be sure to select the nova cannon first. And hold the fire button long enough for it to charge. "Shazbot!" --StarSiege Tribes

I believe you have to have at least 50% of your energy drained before you can use it. But I am not 100% sure. Malkav the Dutchy.
