You need to be level 30 to get the launcher, and it can be found at Bruchsal Base in the Frankfurt system. You went through it in the story so it should be on your nav map. Be sure to have a good rep with the Bundschuh or you can´t buy it
Where in Sirius do you get Sunslayers?

How much do they cost?
-
The launcher´s about $150,000, torpedos are $7,229 each
-
Holy crap that´s expensive! You could probably buy just about any flyable ship that isn´t Rheinland, Corsair or Outcast. Edited by - General Kor on 6/6/2004 5:35:55 PM

It is possible to "Mod" the price down a little if you really want to use the wep. But other than a stationary target, they are useless.

you can buy them at only one base, as far as i can remember. it´s the bundschuh base you go to in the SP campaign. dammit i can´t remember the name of the place. if you want a really good torpedo, get the ´solarcrusher´ mod... it´s fun, but makes everything really easy. Yeah, I´ve used a sunslayer a lot, and it really isn´t much good for anything except very, very large slow moving or stationary targets. Fortunately our server runs a battleship, cruiser and gunboats encounters mod, so it does actually have some use (lasers are still better against the battleships and cruisers, but its really satisfying to vapourise a gunboat with a single torpedo). Get one if you´ve got a lot of cash spare and just want to have a good laugh blowing up transports and gunboats (if you´ve got an ´encounters´ mod on), but for any serious work just get a cruise disruptor, they´re far more useful. {MN} Admiral Myo The Mercenary Navy- Power is Everything Click here to visit The Mercenary Navy Online

Is it possible for destroyed ships to drop torpedo launchers and/or torpedos? I´ve seen just about everything else dropped except them. Just wondered. Thanks! Trent: It´s not the time, it´s the sides that keep changing.
-
I doubt they would drop a $150,000 launcher or the expensive torpedoes. I think Starkillers *may* occasionally be dropped, but don´t hold me to it
-
graeme! lol, i c you have posted a thread on how to get sunslayers, thank u! i shall now go get some sunslayers thanks to u! heehee! cya at school tomorow!
-
heehee im crazy! thats not graeme sry zedicus i thought u were my friend! bye

In hundreds of hours of play have not seen torps or launchers dropped. It is hard to soar with eagles when you fly with turkeys.
-
Same here. I don´t think they ever are, stuff is only dropped from ships if they are carrying it, and since no ships carry torpedo launchers (except in very special circumstances in Single Player when it is necessary for a section of the game) they do not drop them or the torpedos. Shame really, since sunslayer torpedos cost an absolute fortune to keep stocked up with. {MN} Admiral Myo The Mercenary Navy- Power is Everything Click here to visit The Mercenary Navy Online

It´s funny that people complain about the cost of their sunslayer habit but never their Firestalker one, which costs more...

I use torps to take out bunched enemy formations at range. time it right from about 2.2K+ on burners, the torp should hit at about 1K+ before you or they are in gun range, you´ll take out at least 2 enemies and badly damage several others at least, making your gun engagement a lot easier and quicker. Normally I burn and engine kill through what´s left of the formation, blasting with guns to break em up a bit more and chuck a couple of mines out as I got past, then turn, burn and engine kill again. a few passes of that and its done with usually very little damage to me, and stuff like mines and nbts/sbs I can pick up from the salvage from the battle. Never fly without torps. golden rule from Wing Commander. ..the Devil will find work for idle hands to do; i stole and I lied, and why? because you asked me to..

Well sunslayers are the pinnacle of weps but they only work with skilled pilots or a pilot that wants to decimate a freighter that is stil otherwise they are just useluss. Also sunslayers are can be used when you just fly past and enmy and the momenent he comes to your side FIRE the torpedo is like a space cleaner except that some can avoid it. Only liberty rogues can be hit using this tactic The guy with the mod prob

If you think Sunslayer Torps are Pricy to keep stocked with, try having twin Firestalker Misile Launchers, Firestalker Misiles cost the same as Sunslayer torps & the Launchers cost nearly twice as much....

Actually Darkstone´s pretty close but I know as a fact (because Iread it somewhere that it really costs £144,580 but he got the ammo right it does cost £7,229 it has 2.700 range and it fires 60 miles hope it help´s

They cost a good deal more, at almost $8,000 each. On the other hand, Cannonball missiles cost over $1000 less, around $6,000, I think. That should leave nobody in any doubt as to which missile launcher is better And please, no "but the Firestalker homes better" counters because the truth is that if you have a good sense of when to fire, your hit rate with Cannonballs can easily be 100%
