Bank. Whatever instincts you have to buy something, PUT IT OFF FOR A MONTH!!! If the desire to own it by then is still as strong as it was, then buy it by all means. Usually when young you´ll find that unless its a PS2 (or more modern counterpart), you´ll probabily regret the purchase after a while and wish you had the cash. I still use that philosophy now - works wonders when living on a budget, where there are LOTS of things you want...but can only afford one or two p.s - IGNORE what anyone says you should buy - cause that is what THEY want, and not you!! If you cannot think of anything, then ALWAYS save. Just cause you have money does NOT mean you must spend it. What happens if you need it urgently one day, but you bought yet another game that you weren´t DYING to play instead?? Basically - always save money until its NEEDED!

and then put the savings book in a safe place so you arent tempted to take it out.
-
put it into a compounding investment, higher interest rate than your standard savings account, but also keep some in a savings account so that u can get access to your money.

beer. goto the pub fool

Agree with Arcon....blow it all! There will be plenty of time in the future to plan for it.

Someone will have their hand out for part of it. My first job, brought home what I though was a lot, next thing I knew, my mom was giving me a list that said what my rent and food would be. The pile quickly went down. Hope the same doesn´t happen.

you´ll need some form of id, your passport or birth certificate, you might also want to take a parent with you.

the State Bank of Tawakalna is always open for deposits, offers a wide range of services, and returns a crackin rate of interest and of course it´s an ethical investor, putting your money where it does most good (another bank account in a erm samll and mountainous central European country) actually don´t you owe me some money? why, hello kimk´s first paycheque, welcome to England! what a shame, your first paycheque and it´s already been accounted for. by me.
-
i´m sorry taw, it´s hardly a fraction of what i owe you.. after mum took away a third of it for this dinner she forced me to pay for. i just came back from that. now i have 80bucks malaysian currency left.. thats like 10 quid there. sucks i know. oh well. i guess i´m gonna have to put that off for a while. but it does go onto my to do list.

/puts arm around kimk welcome to the real world my friend. this is how the rest of your life will be.

dc has a point. An ordinary savings account won´t put your money to work for you as well as some other kinds of accounts. But it also depends on how much you have to deposit. Some really good accounts have minimum deposits which very possibly may be much more than you have been paid. Don´t know your age but depending upon how young you are, the bank may require that you show up with a parent to co-sign documents with you to make it possible for you to have your own bank account. Problem about being too young is that it means that nothing you sign has any legal effect. For starters, a savings account is good. For discipline, it might help you in the beginning NOT to take out an ATM card ... unless you already have one.

Dude, don´t put it on the bank! Go to town and get laid No serious, buy something. That´s what you must do when you get paid for the very first time! dont ever pay taw back, its a rule ive been living by for the last few months

I haven´t forgotten. I could always have a "name and shame" thread for all the TLRers who owe me money and haven´t yet repaid their debts? However as Arcon has no shame (or money either) it wouldn´t affect him much. Edited by - Tawakalna on 7/3/2004 11:20:09 AM
