The Wierd looking thing in Unknown System 2

 • I always wondered that too. I guess it´s just a really, really weird ´hole´ in the nebula. _____________________________ "If it aint on fire, you haven´t shot it up bad enough yet" - my old teacher on Planet Housten. The Bounty Hunter Intelligence and Tactical Computer System

 • Don´t you think it looks a bit too, I don´t know, ´cloudy´, to be the Dyson sphere? _____________________________ "If it aint on fire, you haven´t shot it up bad enough yet" - my old teacher on Planet Housten. The Bounty Hunter Intelligence and Tactical Computer System

 • 1: would this be the Monkey/Robot System or the other 1 where u are COMPLETEY AHNNIHILATED by Nomads unless u have the Diffculty Cheat on? and, 2: If its the monkeys, do u mean the sun thats 200 Kilometers away? • Nothing, it´s part of the texture of the system. strafe! the three VHF´s are equal in strength You wouldn´t use a cucumber to chop a tomato!

 • it is what ever your imagination wants it to be. i think it could be an alien force field or it could be a mutant soda can who plans on invading the sirius sector sometime soon.

 • may i say that that isn´t the only sun in freelancer that doesn´t kill... go to the medium yellow in tau-37 and hugh her done that already a million times... lol hmmm.... maybe will do that again... hehehe ______________________________ Legion of Fury (Clan Leader Seluka) RIP-member Blood Razors (Squad Leader Seluka) POTC-member (Pirate WarThog)

 • I forget the name of the system but it is on route to Rheinland space, is full of asteroids and has a unioners base in it. think it is the lower of the two paths in from liberty. Anyways, it´s sun has no carona, just rad damage.

 • Kinda had a dumb idea about that tunnel like shape. Consider this, theory dictates that a Dyson Sphere woulde take the entire resources of a solar system to build, including the systems planets themseleves. There are no planets in tthe unknown system with the freaky corridor. Is it possible that this is where the Dyson Spere was built and that tunnel is left over from when it punched its way out of the nebula (theory also dictates that Dyson Spere´s can move under there own power).

 • Oh thers loads more like in the tolido system go to that sun and hug it lol it looks like righland cuz the sun is not in the nabula.

 • "go to the medium yellow in tau-37 and hugh her done that already a million times... lol" What does that do? Some people are like slinkies. They don´t do anything, but you can´t help but smile as they tumble down the stairs.

 • If such a thing could be created, it is a shell built surounding a sun with a world built on the inside. But, short of a small sun, it would be impossible to build one even closer than we are to our sun, at say 80 million miles, the materials would required several planets of resources to make. Here´s a little more info -

A Dyson sphere is a hypothetical megastructure first described in 1960 by the physicist Freeman Dyson in a short paper published in the journal Science entitled "Search for Artificial Stellar Sources of Infra-Red Radiation". This is often interpreted as an artificial hollow sphere of matter around a star (as the diagram depicts). This perception, which is often used in science fiction, television shows such as Star Trek, etc., is a misinterpretation of Dyson´s original concept. Dyson used the term "shell", not "sphere" in his original paper. Dyson also clearly states in his comments to the letters resulting from his original article, "A solid shell or ring surrounding a star is mechanically impossible. The form of ´biosphere´ which I envisaged consists of a loose collection or swarm of objects traveling on independent orbits around the star." The term "Dyson swarm" has recently come into use as a way to make this distinction clearer. The primary motivation Dyson proposed for constructing a Dyson swarm is to allow a civilization to capture nearly all of a star´s energy - by contrast, less than one part per billion of the Sun´s energy even hits Earth. Although Dyson is credited with being the first to formalize and popularize the concept of the Dyson sphere, Dyson himself got the idea in 1945 from a science fiction novel titled Star Maker by Olaf Stapledon. The original proposal by Dyson did not go into much detail about how a Dyson sphere would be constructed, focusing instead on the more fundamental issue of how an advanced civilization could expand its energy production to the maximum possible for a given solar system. Such a civilization would be classified as a Type II civilization under the Kardashev classification scheme developed by the astronomer Nikolai Kardashev. It is useful to understand that all KT-II civilizations (i.e. all civilizations which may have constructed a Dyson swarm) are unlikely to emit light in the visibile spectrum (because they are harvesting it for energy production). So attempts at SETI involving pointing receivers at visibile stars are inherently targeting civilizations which have not reached the KT-II level.

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> <img src=´http://upload.wikimedia.org/wi…8c/Dysonspherediagram.gif ´> Edited by - Finalday on 10/9/2005 6:32:15 AM
