Your Height, and How it Affects You

  • I´m 6 flat, so I´m really in the middle somewhere, a little taller than short but still really mid height. Sometimes I wish I was shorter for the lower centre of gravity and it would make it easier to avoid people you don´t want to speak to.

  • 6"1" tall, but these days most people don´t bother me to much. Weighing 270lbs helps, those that want to start stuff tend to back off. Which is nice. If it hadn´t been for the work I´m in, I would still be around 200 and skinny. High school, I was 150lbs and 5´9" and got flack a lot. Swore if I could get bigger, no one would do that to me again. Edit for wiz, 6´ 1" = 185.42 centimeters 270lbs = 122.47 Kilos Edited by - Finalday on 11/15/2004 5:25:00 PM

  • Can we talk in meters/centimeters and feet/inches here?

  • Ok, Im only 14 and in 8th grade, but I am about 5´11"(180.3cm) and I am among the tallest in my grade, I dont think anyone is scared of me, but it can be awkward talking to someone who is a full foot(30.5cm) shorter than you. I wont even get into the subject of dances.... Overall it has a few disadvantages, but even thought they are not scared that i may hurt them because i wanted to, no one messes with me cuz they all no i could take almost anyone in the grade lolz You can run, but run fast.... 1 shot is all I need. • Damn, 5´ 9". I don´t really notice much of the stuff you talk about, because for the most part, i go to the school with the nicest people around. Lucky me I guess.

  • It´s true. I´m 6´ 6" (possibly more), and people stare at me whenever I walk down the street. In addition, the little folk () often seem intimidated when I speak to them. This is usually a good thing (), however it is detrimental in things like job interviews; those management types are always paranoid about people not bowing to their authority, and being that tall doesn´t allow them to feel in control. Ah well, it´s price of standing out I guess .

  • I´m 6´-3" and here in Indiana thats not that tall. I would have to say the average height of a 17-18 year old male here in my town is somewhere near 6´ flat. There just must be something about the corn in these parts.

  • I´m 5´7". That´s pretty short. Still, I never really had any problems with it. It´ll be interesting when my brother grows to be taller than me. I´ll still be able to scare the living daylights out of him, I´m sure. @ Esq - You´re 6´6"??? Wow. I never would have guessed.

  • Wow esq 6´6"!! I´ve got a cousin who is 6´5" and I feel like a runt next to him. Actually one of the offices I used to support before our company was bought out had a guy who was 7´1". Now he was a BIIIG boy, from memory I (at 6 foot) came up to his armpits. • most of the family on my mothers side are on average 6 ´ 0 but then mum and one of her sisters are 4 ´ 6. i myself am 5 ´ 7 which im quite happy with, as when i was little i was diagnosed with failure to thrive.

  • ok someone convert 165cm for me? im on the short side. iirc my dad´s 170. mum´s half a head shorter than me. im not sure how height affects me, cause there are people shorter than me around here.

  • Dang, sofar I am the shortest: 5´6". ~155lbs. With the new timberlands I bought, I´m up to atleast 5´7". I will still grow though. I don´t get picked on much anymore, I used to a lot though. I was really short though elementary school, and middle school for that matter. I have only had to prove my power once, haven´t had to use martial arts since. Hopefully I never will have to use it again. (I got into a lot of trouble for just defending myself...)

  • Well, I´m 6´5" /305 lbs and a logger on the west coast of Canada. I think that my size/height , has probably been a positive in my life overall. Though it was kind of awkward when I was younger, I think being "bigger" has probably helped me overall. I notice that a lot of the previous posters on this thread are over 6´ ( no insult intended to anyone more vertically challenged ! ) atb aj

  • I´m 5"6". But i am certainly not intimidated by people larger than me(which is most). I have had all the stupid and immature comments about my height but just brush them off.

  • You guys don´t know that I´m 6´ 6" (possibly more)?!? Sheesh, I posted that in another thread AGES ago. No-one listens to me . As I recall, The only person who may be taller than I is SpaceNut who is around 6´ 7" Code - You never would have guessed? Why? Do I sound short or something? JD - No, the rabbit ears add another foot . • Well Esky, I´m darn close, and not done growing yet. I would guess I will hit 6´ 7" or 6´ 8" by the time I´m done, but you never know.
