• Not yet, since you haven´t really had a long game. Once you get one over 100 posts or so I will count it.

  • I have good news. I tried a different approach and I now have the beginnings of a workable battle calculator. There is still a lot of work to do but hopefully I will have a prototype soon, depending on how much free time I have. Hopefully by the time CYOF 4 wraps up It will be functional. Any more updates on the calculator will be posted in their own thread. When all is said and done the program should function as an applet that allows two players to enter their ship stats and then spits out the results based on random dice rolls. There will also be an input to seed the generator so that both players can run the applet independantly and still get the same results. If you want to know more details e mail me at bucpatr@lycoming.edu

  • I propose we have a rule none of the house players can play houses again. Other people should have a chance to play as houses. Edited by - Triyun on 1/12/2005 10:03:40 AM

  • Triyun, I am setting up a system for things like that. Things like that you can´t have the same faction more than two games in a row, and certain requirements to become a major faction or house. It willprobably tie in with the ranks system.

  • That sounds good. Also can you post the signups at a reasonable time for both EST and PST time. Last time, as I recall, people who were on the east coast weren´t able to get there till later.

  • Sure, I will try to do it on a weekend or holiday especially so school and work don´t conflict with signing up. And yeah, I will try to make it convienient for those in PST, EST, and GST so everyone is covered.

  • one over 100 posts. I think we had one that was 101. I think it was a 2.0 game. I´ll have to check with roc on that. He was the judge of that one. I believe Wilde, Triyun, Roc, VD, and Myself was that one. I may be wrong.

CYOF administrator. Second-in-Command of CYOF RIP Justin, I love ya man

  • *Strange music playing in background.* Finally... now that I´ve got most of the stuff in my personal life sorted out (several months of homework-related problems, if anyone cares) I think I might finally be able to return to active duty here. What factions are still available for this round?

  • It´s ended . But you can probably join CYOF 4 when that starts, in a week or two...

  • Hm... then a brief summary of what happened at the end of round 2 and for the duration of round 3, if you will. From the awards, it looks like our poor, poor admin got used as a scapegoat for half the galaxy.

  • Yes, I was. But, I pulled some CYOF 1 awesomeness on them, and they just couldn´t handle it.

  • so when´s CYOF 4: Classic starting then?? *tap tap tap TAP TAP TAP*

  • I don´t call 20 LF´s somehow getting close enough to 120 VHF´s to be at point blank range without taking any losses and then self destructing while the VHF´s just standing there awesomeness, I call it crap.

  • That you´re a cheater, I think. That´s always Arilias´ beef with Rhineland--they build too many capital ships... Despite the fact that its´ all perfectly fair this time.

  • The comment about Rheinland and capital ships was a reference exclusively to round 1. Specifically, to where Rheinland had something on the order of 2000 battleships, 1500 warships, 1000 ultimate warships, and 500 super ultimate warships, or whatever. It was more than anybody could reasonably expect even a major galactic government to have, let alone something as comparatively small as Rheinland, with only ten or twenty systems to its name. I mean, in the original game even a single battleship was a rarity and viable threat. I suspect that, in said original game, Rheinland had about fifteen battleships, and that was as big as they got. So you can imagine by surprise at seeing this country, having expanded a bit, though not enough to really make a difference, counting stuff bigger than cruisers in 4 digit numbers. This is what I meant when I said that round 1 lacked structure. People get away with navies of obviously ridiculous sizes, meaning that newcomers need to build hastily to catch up. (Not endorsing Richardson, of course; what he did was just plain ridiculous) I happen to prefer Round 4 Classic, by far. And in case your worried, the entire Promotheus incident is dead, dead, dead. Since you still seem angry about it, the entire reasoning is this: 1. The Rheinland/Hispania War, which had been the center of the game up until that focus, was more or less over. Rheinland had an indisputable advantage, and was poised to slowly crushed the Hispanics as they valiantly fought to protect themselves, and in all honesty they deserved better than that. 2. The lack of structure made the possibility of any continuance of the round after the battle unlikely. When Hispania died, that was going to be the end of it. Larings was not intended to make it into a fanfic, or anything of the sort. He was supposed to be a viable enemy force - a seperate faction, if you will. My biggest mistake was in miscalculating how fast I could make his personal fleet size grow, and I take responsibility for some of the problems that round ended with.

  • At the end of the day, the original was just an experiment. Lessons were learned, rules made, now look. Everything evolves from something, and considering no one had tried anything like the original before, i would say it went rather well if you look to see where it is now. The fleet sizes just haven´t happened since the original, until now maybe. No one cheated in the first one, there were just no rules in place to limit fleet sizes or "God-modding" . It won´t happen in CYOF 4.
