Yeah, it´s the server. We have a problem sometimes that the databases get an overload (too many requests at once) and they hang, so the site hangs too. It usually fixes itself after a couple of minutes. There´s really not much we can do about it right now, sorry. Edited by - Eraser on 2/5/2005 12:45:41 AM
Server Problems

Thanks for the heads up Eraser

May be database-related? For the last 12ish hours I wasn´t even able to access TLR from pretty well anywhere, not my uni dialup or my home broadband. I´ve just been able to get back on now from a uni computer at the uni. Any info? (Sorry for the gravedigging but it seemed to be related and I was in this forum to see if anyone else had noticed this problem)

A problem with the new hard drive at boot up. It was fixed, I believe.

Probably got continuously locked by the traffic increase caused by that PC Gamer article- I and everybody else I keep in touch with via email have been affected, too

What PC Gamer article? Linky? The server outage is part of our growing pains, we deeply regret any withdraw symptoms that it may have caused Better to work out the kinks during this downtime in new site content rather than when any new games may be coming out and the server chokes. We´ve got very skills technicians working on the issues.

Do a search for Fergus... it´s in the News here for the 14th (last update). I dunno whether that means that the US version of ´Gamer will also have that article, but I would guess so. Needless to say, as a properly self-conscious modder, I´ll have to buy it and make sure they´re not saying too many naughty things about me

Erm, Argh - is it not possible to provide a link? I had a quick look, but couldn´t find anything related to anything

Probably got continuously locked by the traffic increase caused by that PC Gamer article-

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> Unless it was posted on "Our" Server, it has absolutly no influence to the problem. Think about it for a moment.

I think what Argh might be saying is that there was an article in pc-gaming refering to TLR and because of that TLR got extra traffic.
