well, converting is easy, just go to the file menu, then choose export, then choose autodesk 3ds, now u can use sl edit to import the 3ds file Mad Dog Just kill it
hey gag can you give me some help in milkshape 3d
-

There are a good few tutorials on the milkshape site. and a few in AVI format. Just a thought

the only way to connect the vectors is with the face tool. but i will say it is really hard to make a ship from scratch using just the vectors and face tools, the best way is to use the cylinder and box , sphere tools. just scale and pull the points out and reshape them till they look like somthing. for example make a shpere scale it down on one axis so it looks like a plate and hey you have the top of the starship enterprsie. i try not to use the faces and vector tool as much as posible, because when you convert them to .shp not the faces get converted . aint that true MAD DOG. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> a headless chicken only knows where it has been never where its going Edited by - GAG on 11/1/00 2:21:09 PM

okay how do i put textures on them do i create them in paint shop pro and then import them ??????????? g. bush must be elected
-
yes just create them in paint shop remember to use the palletes you got with sledit ( atleast i think it´s sledit) to do this just click the colour section in psp and then load pallete then search for the two pallets called spal.pal. then make you´re skin save it as a .bmp. then in milkshape choose the group you want to texture click on the materials tab. at the bottom select NEW then below the grey shpere that just appeared there is to long buttons that say none. click the top one, it opens up a browser search for you´re skin file and open it. now click assign at the bottom of the materials section. the group you have selected should turn dark grey. now press control+T and theres the texture editor re scale rotate until it fits where you want it to then youre done. oh yeh and remember change to texture view by right clicking in the 3d model window. a headless chicken only knows where it has been never where its going

Pirate - I am sending you the 2.13 update to see if this resolves you problem. Disable all features in SL Edit, then extract the exe I am sending you to the SLEDIT (not StarLancer folder) and then renable features and try again. Let me know if this resolved your problem. BTW - some features in this exe aren´t fully implemented yet... so if some buttons don´t do anything don´t be suprised. Thanks, Dustin "Fuzzball" Evans

Ok, this is just not working for me.. I have been following everything said here and I still cant get a texture on my fighter... I tried converthing it without one, and opened it in sltool it looked realy bad. I am not sure If it´s something I did or if it was the new 3ds2sl.dll file like Mad Dog said. I would like any help anyone can give... Thanks,
-
Nevermind. Think I got it.

Uhh... can somebody tell me how to post a picture in the forum?? Also is there away to zoom in in MilkShape?? Oh and one more problem I put a ship in Starlancer and it would fly sideways how do I fix that?? Edited by - razar on 11/2/00 11:46:06 PM
-
you have to orient it the right way.. I don´t know how milkshape works, but the z-axis must look forward, and the y-axis down (so the x-axis looks left)
-
razar - just upload it to a web site and use the forum code syntax for images. Edited by - Fuzzball on 11/3/00 2:52:46 AM

<img src=´http://www.geocities.com/razar_x/itsaplane.jpg ´> I still can´t get it to fly right in the game, but now as I sit back in look at it I am gonna scrap it and start over. Edited by - razar on 11/3/00 3:59:11 AM

There were in fact a few problems with the new 3ds2sl (sorry about that <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> ). After RubberEable sent me a new model i was able to fix the errors on the conversion routine and i think it´s working fine now (supports multiple textures and multiple meshes, poly limit upped to 15000). Before i upload it here to the Reactor i´d like you modellers to try it out. I really want 3ds2sl to work for everyone, but i need you to tell me what problems you´re having (the more 3ds2sl is tested, the more reliable it´ll become). The new version is <A href=´http://planeta.clix.pt/mario_brito/3ds2sl.zip´ Target=_Blank>here</a>, copy the DLL to the SLEdit directory and convert it as usual. If something goes wrong, e-mail me the model you tried to convert (be sure to tell me which program you used to create it), and i´ll see what´s making 3ds2sl fail.
