Personally? I don´t really think so, especially not if you have an older CPU and not too much RAM. I´ve been monitoring loads on the dual-Celeron with Windows XP Pro and it´s not too bad with four players even when I´ve been flying through heavily-asteroid-laden systems and two other guys in combat somewhere else. That having been said I´m going to slide it over to a P3 Tualatin system and it should be able to handle things, no sweat. But the point is I got it working fine under XP Pro and haven´t had any cause for concern on that score.

Although flserver will work with either WinServer2003, WinNT2000 and WinXP, use what you want. I, too, have been using nothing but WinXPPro. Boston has been up for 2 years 4 months and WinXPPro can go for a month without a restart. I usually have to do one though because of some Windows update that comes along and demands a reset. _____________ Earendil SysAdmin of Boston Freelancer server Server community website & forum: EarendilsPlace.net (server rules)

Ok but how far will 512 ram go? people wise? Becuase I would like to use an old computer for testing.

P3 Tualatin 1.13 GHz, 384 megs RAM, 16 allowed players... surprisingly, not bad. Plan to go to 512 anyway sooner or later.

Wow so 1.5 - 2.0 gb ram would do great then.

Upload speed of the connection is the key. eg 350 ish up and 1 gig ram and p4 2.4 30 players no trouble.
