• do you actually know what an infidel is? ---------------------------------------- the path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and of the tryannys of evil men.blessed is he who, in the name of chariety and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brohers keeper and the finder of lost children. and i will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poisen and destroy my brothers. and you will know my name is the lord when i lay my vengeance upon thee

 • Its only theory, but in a maths class you can prove there are more? Theories aren´t actually factual you know, they are usually created to explain things that are observed by experimental results - or to explain unexpected results. Alot of theories get disproved over time, although in the meantime they are "accepted". If you really do go around your maths class trumpeting knowledge from a book you are reading - be warned... What you are taught is a generally accepted as understandable for the level you are at. They do not teach advanced chemistry or physics at high school - simply because people cannot understand it, and the same goes for mathematics (I can list many examples for Chemistry where you learn "simplified" versions (or wrong versions basically)). Furthermore, wasting time disrupting the class because you have read a book isn´t going to be constructive towards your exams, they will mark your answers as wrong because it is not the "accepted" method for your level. Pay attention in class, don´t disrupt it for an ego´s sake or for "fun". As for the book - Fraid I haven´t read it - but you don´t describe it at all either, so I personally am not finding it alluring. Edited by - Mike G on 10/10/2005 1:49:53 AM

 • Well it is certainly interesting to know that you think that about my own learning, it may be interesting to point out that i am top of my year group at maths. This book is not basics, and certainly chemistry, it is only theory of chemistry. Mike (mr chips), you really should at least find out what this book is about before acusing me of disrupting learning. This is a great book and i know it is all theory, but also most "convential" physics as only the most commonly adopted THEORY. I know that this is what i must know to do well in science and maths and other related subjects. i am not an idiot. e expect if i called this a fantasy story you would all recommend it. i know i am not taught higher level stuff, but there is a fact that maybe you should learn about me, i learn it anyway. To support this fact you may like to know that i will be going to london soon to compete against about 80 other 11 to 18 year olds to go to america to represent Britain, this is the final round of a national compitition.

 • parallel lines that touch aren´t parallel, theyre convergent. and could you prove that there are more than 180deg in a triangle? without just copying from the book, because I just read that part and I think its horsedung. don´t be too quick to junk the laws of natural mathematics at your age, they have a habit of coming up and getting you in the @ss. but if you really want, go ahead and apply the theory of this book in your maths exam, and see how well you do. I´m sure everyone will accept your explanation that your answers were too advanced for the examiner, that´s why he failed you. Happens to lots of people everday! why, in my physics exam I proved that I could build a perpetual motion machine AND go faster than light AND produce cold fusion AND invent a time machine.. btw perpetuator, if you are so clever and mature as you claim, maybe you´ll kindly go back and delete all those stupid posts in the other thread that i just locked, thus saving me the bother of having to. work out the maths of how long it will take me to clear up your puerile mess when i could be doing something far more constructive and enjoyable. • wat losers. have any of you actually read the book? I could explain it. yet it would take a long time, as your simple minds just wouldn´t be able to cope with so much raw information.

You really should listen to those ´losers´ above though. If you do stick by your belief that parallel lines touch you will fail high school maths or whatever you´re taking. It´s not just because it´s complicated, but because it is a THEORY. As Mike said, theories are disproved all the time. Similarly, if you write about the Intelligent Creationism theory when asked about the origins of biological life, or the Strings theory regarding the structure of the universe, you will fail. It´s good to read around the subject, but don´t get full of yourself. You need to learn the ´basics´ as well.

 • like the endless repetition of the word spam? a clear sign of the superior intellect, no doubt. and, incidentally, you can´t spell very well, O Master of the Complex Mind. And your grammar is terrible.

 • After looking at the recently locked "spam" filled thread, I´m presuming thats a big bye-bye to Mr Perp. Some kids, I just don´t get ´em.

 • It´s only after you have learned this stuff that you would be able to understand the explanation, so I´m not going to attempt to explain it. You wouldn´t understand the explanation. When you have learned the mathematics I am studying you will realize how useful it can be. Most of what is called mathematics in the curriculum in the United States is essentially that subject as it existed at the end of the eighteenth century, therefore it is old and even though new theories have advanced, they are not taught. It is the same in the UK

 • perpetuator , Spam a thread one more time like you did the welcome thread, I push for a ban of you. 35 Spam/v post is totaly uncalled for and way out of line for a forum poster. You have been here since the 4th of october and have a 153 post count, not an

 •

but its great in maths class, where when the teacher says parralel lines must not touch, i can say well actually they do

<font face=´trebuchet ms, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica´ size=2> That sentence led me to believe that if you brought this up in class and contradicted what the teacher was trying to teach to the rest of them via your superior intellect... you would be disrupting said class. That is a fact, not theory My concern wasn´t for your education, it was everyone else who would have to suffer your disruption... (if you did undertake that in class). As for whether you are more intelligent than some of us (me) - no doubt you are, I didn´t infer you weren´t... but it doesn´t mean people won´t understand the concepts. Stephen Hawking wrote "A brief history of time" - specifically to explain physics concepts upon the origins of the universe etc. You didn´t need to be a theoretical physicist to understand his text at all... it was for the common layman. However, your statement that we couldn´t understand it is making assumptions. Kind of reminds me when we went to hospital due to a girl having a brain haemorrage. The doctor was trying to describe some process or something and said "I won´t explain the process, because you´d need to be a particle physicist to understand". The girls aunt promptly said "I am a particle physicist - explain away". In other words, don´t underestimate your unknown audience .

 • Michio Kaku, the author of Hyperspace is one of many who currently promote the concept of a multidimensional multiverse. Also a theory sometimes thought to be convergent with String Theory if not being a component of the Theory itself. The notion that parallel lines in our four known dimensions actually may intersect in other ones beyond the four is not impossible but, from our perspective in the four known dimensions and with our current needs for existence, relatively without meaning. To say that parallel lines "in fact" intersect and is an accurate representation of what Kaku wrote is, at least, an overstatement and may very well be an "wrong" answer were a test given on the subject.
