Faction relations help

  • Oi, it's me again.

I've managed to construct/expand a reasonably good amount of systems with native factions flying around in them. Everything seems fine as long as everything is calm, but when there's supposed to be a fight, that's where the problem starts... my factions simply don't want to fire at each other.

It's perfectly fine if it's one of my homemade faction vs. a canon faction, say the Bounty Hunters Guild or the Nomads. But if two of my homemade factions are pitted against one another, nobody seems to be arsed to do anything. Say for example that the Hispanic Legion (the military of Hispania) and The Ascended (a neo-religious Nomad-worshipping cult made up of former Outcasts) hate each others guts, they're supposed to try and kill each other every chance they get, but whenever they do, they're just flying about without a care in the world. That's the problem: I want them to be bitter enemies, not hippies!

I'll post the relevant entries, so you might check it out and perhaps find a problem that' simply passed me by.

    Here's the initialworld.ini entry:

    And here's the empathy.ini entry:

IIRC, I based the Hispanic navy off of the Rheinland Military and The Ascended off of the Outcasts.

    Thanks beforehand!

  • So THAT's what the problem was! I'd never have guessed. Thanks a lot! =)

There's one other problem: nobody seems to want to land at any of the new bases I make, nor do the bases ever asked for any sort of verification of identity and purpose from travelling ships. This leaves the systems seem pretty silent and dead. I have pop zones, but no patrols, is that what I'm missing?

  • So which ones do? I thought at least the trade encounters would land/dock, but so far they've all been flying past the bases and/ and or docked with trade lanes and sped off somewhere else.

  • 1. only use the ones that start with area_
    2. well ill simply copy/paste it
