I agree that Sacrifice is a good game, but it suffers the same fatal flaw, in my opinion, that befell Homeworld. The gameplay get´s FAR too repetitive. You wind up doing the same thing over and over. How many RTSs have you played? Homeworld, though it´s got by far the best eyecandy out of any RTS game I´ve ever played, is by no means one of the best in terms of gameplay. If you try to argue this point with me, it will only reinforce in my mind that you haven´t played very many RTS games. I dont play every RTS game that cross my path but Homeworld is still one of my favorite. Like with sims, I like all-around 360 degrees of freedom. I´m afraid you´re slightly wrong there. RTS has gone 3D time and time again. Myth, Homeworld, Ground Crontrol, Starship Troopers. Battlezone, Dogs of War, Uprising, the list goes on and on. But it´s a simple fact that it´s the 2D ones that still outsell the 3D ones by about 10 to 1. Starcraft is still on the top ten best-selling games lists from several different companies. I´m not sure why you brought the Sims into this. Yes, it´s a good game, but I would hardly classify it as an RTS. And it´s view is just as limited as that for Red Alert or Starcraft. But that´s a different arguement. I do believe Conquest from DA, assuming it ever sees the light of day, has the right idea. It´s a 2D game built on a 3D engine. Once it comes out, I believe there will be a new standard set for RTS games.
