Because the computers wanted to get revenge on the humans. But scientifically, all that wouldnt be possible. No matter what organism they used. According to the Law of Conservation of Energy, the AIs wouldnt live very long. Their energy would quickly decrease to nothing cuz there would be energy loss evreywhere. --------------------- If I wanted smoke blown up my ass, I´d be at home with a pack of cigarettes and a short length of hose.

It did occur to me that so much energy was being used to create a cyber environment for the humans to ´live´ in, what was left for the machines? They can´t run on power hungry Pentium processors, so Intel must be out of business. I also made the connection between the game ´Syndicate Wars´ and ´The Matrix´. The malfunction of the Utopia chip In SW and breaking out of a cyber environmant in TM. -- If I missile throw a Havoc at ya. This aint no game, this is war! (and my PC is the enemy).

The simple fact is that most people don´t care about all those scientific facts. It was a cool movie, so some flawed reasoning can be forgiven. It didn´t really make me think about why they chose humans; the easy answer is that it made for an interesting plot. I guess that part of it was to make you look around and wonder, "what if...?" I wouldn´t let that niggling feeling take away from your enjoyment of the movie.

what i´ve always wondered is what will happen when they free enough humans? there will be no where for them to go except for them to dig another city or 3 under the earth...also, how do they plan to get rid of the robots? neo´s power is only usefull <i>within </i> the matrix, so what can they do to the robots who exist outside the matrix? just my 2 cents kyp durron 43.98% of all statistics are made up on the spot

Ive had this idea for awile. Ok, it dont going to be the next matrix movie but its good idea The setting is are current time, in L.A. Its all real to life. They start fighting back...... end movie Those two big gaps in the story, well it would take an entire script to fill them up. Let me try to fill in some details. The reaons the Matrix the movie was made was that it was suppose to be something that would be used to make people disbelive that something like that could be possible (speicaly since the world is so hectic and people belive in just about anything). The Real Matrix is controls by aliens. There reason for holding us in the matrix is that are speices was dieing out. I guess they felt sad and they took what was left us and hooked us up to (The Matrix) or They are also studing us, watching how we evolved and so on. There is also drones like in the matrix moive. They watch over us, to make sure we dont get out of hand (lets also say they are the people who start wars and end them) they also watch and make sure we dont fine out that this isnt the real. Ill probaly add more, to fill in the gaps ------------------------------ We live in a sad world... the only way we can fix it... is for everyone to unite... and smash up there PS2´s... - Blitzkrieg

Cows arnt as abundndant as humans. And couod you really see a cow doing kartweels with an M16? Tu Morte Et Liberate

That´s exactly my point ! Cows can´t do all that stuff, so it´s much easier to keep them in check. And about their not being abundant, I´m sure cloning technology will already be perfect. And why is the Matrix set on the 20th century ? Set it on the 15th century, and Morpheus will have a hard time hacking in. &quot;At my signal, unleash hell.&quot;

Again, I mention that it would´ve made for an uninteresting plot, to say the least. But realistically, yes, they could´ve used cows if it was a simple question of abundance. With advanced cloning as suggested earlier, reproduction and abundance wouldn´t be a problem.

any one else heard that fact about how much cows fart? ive solved the AI´s problems, burn the methane to produce power. And i personaally think it would be pretty cool if all the characters in the matrix were replaced with cows.........

The reason the machines did not use another life form is simple... there all dead. When the humans scoarched the sky all the animals in the world slowly died off from the cold. The only animals that would survive would be the cold-blooded. And what good are cold blodded animals, they produce no heat and they are all relitively small. Plus, animals can not be controlled through the brian becuase there to dumb, they would become restless and attack the machines making it hard to to use them.
