You are right, but that would make the movie less interesting wouldn´t it?? Mad Dog United SL Modelers© Don´t Think, Just KILL!!!

I dont think those are nuclear weapons even though they say "nuke"a a couple times. Perhaps its a new type of explosive they made...after all it is the future. Or maybe because its just a movie and they have to ingore some things like radiation. I bet you replayed the shower scene a couple times.

My problem is, they call themselves the Mobile Infantry, and yet they WALK everywhere. Some tanks or mechs would be nice. "At my signal, unleash hell."
-
Maybe they call it "Mobile" because they have these cool drop ships. But indeed, Tanks and APC´s with some heavy weapons would indeed beef up the firepower and opperational range. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

Cool drop ships ? Yeah. They needed only one of those to evacuate the entire Roughnecks. "At my signal, unleash hell."
-
You mean what was left of the Roughnecks. Besides, the Roughnecks were just a Platoon. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance Edited by - DSA-Gabriel on 1/29/01 4:10:09 PM

I love Starship Troopers there is some great satirical stuff if u listen to the script. the irony that now humans have made peace with themselves they have this urge to go out and kill more "subhuman" stuff, its just a great idea. cheers Scup
-
My favorite part was the first invasion. The most intense of the battle scene. And were the dropships firing artillery support, or just flares ? "At my signal, unleash hell."
-
Has anybody played the game??, and what do you think of it?? Mad Dog United SL Modelers© Don´t Think, Just KILL!!!
-
I didn´t like it that much, but that was only because the viewing is very limited. you have no real overview on what is going on until it is right on top of you. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

Ok heres the deal. Mini Nukes could not work in the way ST uses them. A Nuke works by a timer. You have to preprogram a Nuke with a time off detination. Collision will not actualy trigger the explosion. Does your keyboard go Nuclear when you type? Same idea. Tu Morte Et Liberate
-
If the launcher has mini-computer capable of calculating distance to target and ETA to target using some sort of sensor, then you have your timer. "At my signal, unleash hell."
-
Dont be clever. Yes that could work but it would be a very advanced computer, even for that time. Then there is the point that there was no mushroom cloud. Tu Morte Et Liberate

It´s a movie, everything is diferent in the movie, do you really think those insects really exist? Mad Dog United SL Modelers© Don´t Think, Just KILL!!!

Hahahaha, I hope they don´t think that Mad Dog. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

What?! The bugs arn´t real? Damnit. --------------------- If I wanted smoke blown up my ass, I´d be at home with a pack of cigarettes and a short length of hose.

If ya read the book (which came out 40 years before the movie), the battles take place all over and they uses moble suits (Think Mechs but the size of humans) and drop down not in drop ships but are launched from ships in capsules (Quake 2 style). Nukes in the books are just that...nukes. The moble suits protect them from any radiation (Possibly they used non-radioactive nukes too). The movies version nukes are just the director trying to put in as much stuff as possible even if the dont make sinces. There a ton of stuff that is different compared to the book to the movie ------------------------------ We live in a sad world... the only way we can fix it... is for everyone to unite... and smash up there PS2´s... - Blitzkrieg
-
You mean kind of like the separation of genders in the book? hehe... We all know THAT didn´t carry into the movie. Hell, we´d have lost some good footage if it hadn´t been for the "artistic license" taken by Hollywood I read that someone said that Heinlein himself would´ve loved the movie becuase it got his point across, just in a different way. But Heinlein was putting across several points, not just one, and I think one of the biggest ones was that he was saying that everyone has their place. It´s a good point, but we don´t necessarily have to agree with his version of everyone´s place. But I digress. In fact, I forgot where I was going with this...
