Excalibur from WC3! There is simply no comparison in the leap of performance compared to other fighters in the game, compared to other games (does that make sense?). You basically went from flying a large brick at subsonic speeds to actually flying a high speed space fighter that could kill a Dralthi in one (or two if you were unfortunate) shots. Sorry Tachyon. Just think back to WC prophecy(spelling) the heavy fighter (vampire, if i remember the name right) that was leaps ahead of all the other fighters. The design makes it look like a small/medium fighter, but it´s a heavty and agility, even more agile than the small fighters, becuze of it´s moving engines. That ship rocked. with the agility it made it much easier to dodge missle and gun fire from those little insects. just curious, those aliens, when you look at their ships. in babalon 5 in one of the movies there was this old artifact that was actually a really powerful jump gate. the aliens that came through the looked alot like the aliens ship from WCP. heh, even the old races feared these guys more than the shadows. can´t remeber the movie but it wa hella cool ~and thou shal burn from my righteous fire, for it is I that shal deliver you from your cargo to inrich my life. They didn´t do it in flight, but many larger fighters did break up into several smaller fighters if you damaged them enough.

Hey Jaatu,you nailed right on the head there was a fighter that connected to one big fighter &amp; they had to be no. in three´s in Wing COmmander<img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>rophecy. Trapper it was a very good fighter especially when you´re seriously outnumbered &amp; you´d just launch those Tracker rockets which contained 4 fire-forget missiles would clear that bug congestions pretty quickly especially in the last mission.My favourite fighter though in the Wing Commander series would have to be in secret ops in which the Wasp has some pretty deadly weaponry like the Dust cannon &amp; the Pulse-particle laser &amp; the missile compliment would be those swarm missiles which it carried 8 &amp; 4 enhanced long range image recognition missiles made it one of the best,imo.

yeh from memory... the good thing is i wcp work on windows so dows priv2... i guess im gonna get that p100 from the garage and see if i can get dos somewhere and play some wc.... i miss that game. freespace was good, the epic battle for humanity to survive, what the hell am i saying that game rocked i mean 20 fighters between 4 big ships firing beam weapons... woohoo. but then again i liked tie fighter alot, my best game, and yes tie defender was one power ship.. i mean shield almost as strong as a small star destroyer at full power.. woohoo, but i like flying in the normal tie´s ... outnumbering the rebels.. but defenseless as hell. sometimes i hear ppl comparing fighters from starwars and wc and i just get annoyed.. wc ship are stronger but you cant compare the 2 , different universe... i just want to stab them or something.

You´ve never played Wing Commander? I pity you. I truly, deeply pity you down to the very fiber if your being. Yep, in fact, I look down upon you in many ways. To put it simply, you missed out <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> The gameplay was boring, but the storyline and sheer fun is second to none.

I must amit that I never played WC also. I have tryed but I cant get it to work on my oldest computer <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> so, I just play TIE Fighter (which I got working a couple of days ago) if I want to play an old space sim <img src=´http://www.boomspeed.com/nash11/finalversion.jpg ´>
