Before I was a real console player (I had a NES, SNES, Playstation etc.), but now I just stick to the PC <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Why ? Because a PC is upgradable and the games advance more rapidly. I mean, at a certain point the games won´t get better (graphics) for the Xbox or Playstation 2, because the engine has given everything he´s got ! And when that happens, they (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo etc.) will make a new console !?! I already heard talk about a Playstation 3 and the Xbox 2 ! Question: Is it blanking impossible to have a blanking Xbox thread around this blanking site without blanking fanboys raining down blanking bull-tooty posts!?! Like, what... console games never had bugs before? RIIIIIIGHT! Look, I´m trying to endure the TLR &quot;no cursing&quot; rules, but a bunch of jack-smiths invading every Xbox related thread w/ a bunch of BS is friggin´ lame. EVERY console ever made has had it´s share of returns and bad software, be it Xbox, Nintendo, Playstation, Neo Geo, Atari or friggin´ PONG! FACT! Here´s another fact... I have yet to have a single problem w/ my Xbox. I´m pretty damned tired of repeating these facts, so can we put the fanboy filth aside and just leave each others threads alone? Blanking truce? After all, it´s not like PS2 isn´t kicking everyones butt anyway... That business aside, PC gaming is groovy (I do my share of it), but dude, while you have to get a new console every few years, do you not have to upgrade your processor, vid card, RAM, and whatever else every few years? I mean, consoles AREN´T that expensive, not to mention the whole bug issue is ten-fold on a PC.

Eraser, how much would you say you spend on hardware say every three or four years? say right now you wanted to make your PC fairly Kicka$$, you have the bones of a good system, nice monitor, a motherboard that will support a substantial cpu uprade, a fair amount of ram, infact the only things you are actually planning on buying are : A new bigger /faster/ nicer /cooler CPU A top of the range video card to last you say... 3 of 4 years? (when it will be obselete.) Ok adressing the first, you want to buy something fast, thats going to last, but not something thats going to break the bank right? How about the Intel Pentium 4 2.26 GHz thatll last a good few years, and costs $250, if thats a bit too expensive for you then how about.. the OEM AMD Athlon XP 2100+ this is a nice fast little chip and at only $180 is also cheaper than the intel chip. The second piece of hardware ... a nice meaty graphics card, lets say a Geforce 4 of some type, say...the GeForce4 Ti 4600 retailing at around... $250-$300 or for the tightwads... GeForce4 MX 420 ($50-$60, so seeign as we´d buy the cheapest, call it $50) Sofar we ahve the expensive and long lasting option costing around $500 or the cheapo option (which will need upgrading sooner to keep up with the competition, for half the price, at around $250 and the current retail price of the x box? $200 so the only real difference is the fact that you may spread the payment for differnt items of hardware as you go along, where as i paid all my money at once. Big deal. You are spending just as much if not more than me. so dont ttry and make out that buying a console makes us fools. Then there´s the occasional new speakers, new motherboard, new whatever breaks down/wears out... PC´s don´t last a eternity... you can´t just get a new processor/vid card forever. Don´t get me wrong, I PC game about as much as I console game, but the whole &quot;Consoles suck compared to PC´s because you can´t upgrade a console&quot; arguement is weak at best.

You....YOU CAN´T TYPE YOUR HOMEWORK ON YOUR CONSOLE!! *ahem* I´ll leave the PC-defense to someone with more brain and competence. But let me say this one to Dev and Scup: How is it possible that you´re leaving posts on lancersreactor.org? The answer: 1. You have a PC. 2. You want to play Freelancer Upgrading a PC and buying a console are both the same in costs, you said it yourself. My point is: 1. People who don´t have consoles, will spend $250 every year of two to keep up. 2. People with BOTH PCs and consoles will spend $500 every year of two to keep up! FF: We´re not argueing &quot;PC vs. Console&quot; here... you´re kinda entering into a whole different arguement really, so... Console vs. PC: PC... but you pay for it. PC´s cost a hell of a lot more than a console. Monitor, vid card, motherboard, processor, sound card, speakers, mouse, keyboard... it adds up quick! Especially the monitor, which is typically gonna be smaller than your TV. For gaming alone (which is what we were actually discussing), I´d totally go console... cheaper, larger screen size (lower res., ya, but it works out when you don´t sit 2´ from your TV), WAYYYYYYYY fewer bugs. Then there´s the multiplayer aspect... multiplayer on a PC typically requires another PC (just try playing Starlancer split screen on one PC, lol)... on a console, you can have 4 players at once easily... 30$ controller vs. 1500$ PC... BIG difference! Luckily enough, I´m a 27 year old who doesn´t suck, so I can afford the 500-750$/2-3 years (every year is far from necessary) to keep my PC up to date, AND 2 consoles, AND still support other hobbies, so I get the best of both worlds. As for what I do when I only have 250$ to spare for either a console or PC upgrade, I definately do NOT take the PC upgrade every time... sometimes I wait till next month to upgrade the PC, and buy the console instead, lol! As for why I´m here, it´s more because I got involved in the whole SL editing scene, then I just got to know everyone, so I stay.... I´m not too sure about FL, actually, lol! So in summary, I like consoles for their cheaper cost, significantly fewer bugs, exclusive games, big screen, and multiplayer-ability. I like PC´s for their various uses, high res., editable games, exclusive games, and more complex interface allowance. Which is better is obvious... PC. Which is ALL AROUND more WORTH it is pretty up in the air, IMO... depends on too many variables. Forinstance, I don´t HAVE any homework to do. Which is GAME-WISE more worth it is, IMO, consoles. Frankly, I wouldn´t care to be without either one, nor do I see why I would have to pick. I´d have to be pretty poor to not be able to afford even 1000$/2-3 years for my favorite hobby. Edit: also, note that if I wanted to EXCLUSIVELY game on either a PC or a Console, but not both, I would still only be spending 250$/2-3 years... if you´re gaming on a console, what would you need to upgrade your PC for? I can do word processing on a friggin´ 200$ PC if I wanted to. In fact, there´s a combo for ya... super cheap PC for net, word processing and such, console for gamining... slightly more expensive than console alone, but way cheaper than a gaming PC, with all the functionality of both!
