Tell me if I am wrong.

  • Eeeehhh....just set your Show Topics as far as possible and start catching up, Raz. You haven´t been around for long, so I´ll forgive your insolence towards The Mouse (with capital M). But basically, in short, no joystic support. And it is unknown yet if the Mouse will suck, or totally rock. Please refrain from making negative comments against either peripherals, we could barely keep the Mouse-JS War on cease-fire.

  • For as long as I can remember, DA and MS have said no joystick support. Several people who have played portions of the game at E3 and in house (like Bargib maybe?) have indicated that the departure from normal space sims was easy to get used to but different (or something like) relying more on your nav computer. I´ve been playing space sims for a long time with joysticks (my first one was the thrustmaster with a metal base - yeah, I´m kinda old) and I am looking forward to something new and non-mainstream. For what it is worth, that is... Merlin DRUID´S MYSTIQUE "...I´m only in it for the money..." Edited by - Merlin on 26-10-2002 03:18:00 Edited by - Merlin on 26-10-2002 03:18:25

  • Oh no!!! Someone... close this thread... QUICK! I hear the war drums beating off in the distance! Another Joystick v. Mouse posting!!!! Who ever said that Death was the easy part obviously didn´t try hard enough.

  • Ok, ok, I won´t say anything else. I had just seen a preview or the game on tv. It looked like an RPG (which I don´t like) which caused me to question my thinking on the way the game was played, and so then this question came to mind. If not for the preview I would still have no interest in the game. My apologies For not reading past post before posting.

  • Yeah I´m interested too coz I watch quite a bit of TV and I havent seen anything. What channel and what did it show?

    ------------------------------ Hehehehe - I told you I was a lunatic ;)

  • Ok thanks I´ll watch and see! hehehe

  • Im eager to see what using the mouse is like. I liked playing Starlancer with a joytick but it did get hard in some places. Hopefully the mouse will be easy to adjust to.

  • Ok, PLZ tell me I am wrong. Freelancer is not gonna be a point and click game rather than a cockpit fly and pilot game is it ? ie Star Strat v Star SIM *sniffle* *sniffle* I want it have the game play of StarLancer with Economics, Diplomacy and all that added in.

  • Well then I guess you´re out of luck. Any game using a mouse is "point and click" although FreeLancer is not automated to the extreme Earth & Beyond is. It´s not anything near like that. Either way, if you want StarLancer or something else, I suggest you go play it, because FreeLancer will be different! Edited by - Tachyon on 29-10-2002 17:45:31

  • From the videos FL looks to be really fast paced, and that´s how I like it. You´re not going to be saying, " enemy...let´s here to shoot him" It will be more like, "there´s one, eat lead pal! Crap! I´m out of power. Crap! someone´s hitting me from behind! I got some power back, take that! I missed! What do I do?" The videos I´ve seen make the game look even more fast-paced than Starlancer. It´s bound to be cool. Let´s get those missiles ready to destroy the universe!!

  • If you´ve not got TechTV, I should have it digitized in a few days, but I´ll have to get it hosted somewhere... Bargib, do you have somewhere I can upload it to?

  • If this is the ´Seadogs In Space´ clone it appears to be the use of mouse and keyboard keys should work as a combat engine at least with this spacer you won´t have to deal with the added factor of battling crosswinds while you try to kill and maim. Plus you get to advance osteo-arthritis in both hands instead of just your trigger fingers.
