New York -> Magellan jumpgate

So far have 3 jump holes cant use that gate, and then there is the gate surrounded by the minefield i cant get at eheh

I believe you can only use that gate during the SP campaign....I used it a few hours ago as part of the plot...so it works even in the beta

Can you get to the Magellan system via some other route? If not, maybe it´s part of Hispannia space? Opens up in SP or reserved for an expansion? NY -&gt; California -&gt; Magellan -&gt; Manchester -&gt; New :London is the trade route that I´ve been running. Damned Hackers have blown me into Pauperville twice. I was running around with $14 dollars in my pocket, and hull at 30% for a little while there <img src=smilies/icon_smile_angry.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> However, I´ve made three successful runs now, have a tricked-out Clydesdale that can take out most enemy fighters in Cali or NY before they can complete the merge (Slingshot missiles are *SO* worth the extra $ over Javelin), and also around 70K in cash. Going to be sniffing out a new trade route soon <img src=smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

Engine parts from the Ring in New Berlin.. sell for 225, sell them @ Freeport 4 in magellan for 1350. Run consumer goods or something else over to Kensington station in New London, buy some Berylium for 192 and sell back @ the Ring for 1200. There ya go! You can use the jumphole short cuts of Cali&gt;Texas&gt;Hudson to skip NY altogether, but in Cali, you running awfully close to Rogue base of Alcatraz.

Just made the first leg (Houston -&gt; Freep 4) and jumped from level 18 to level 22 <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> How much longer does it take to run them from the Ring? I spent most of the afternoon trying to find a way to improve my Hacker faction to get a Dromedary. I´m going to need a tougher ship than the Clydesdale soon. I´m also dropping in faction to the Gaians, which is a shame because they´ve chopped the trade lanes on me at least 8 times, and let me go because I was nuetral to them <img src=smilies/icon_smile_shy.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

To improve your hacker faction either follow the plot to the point where they become neutral...or attack libery navy or Ageira ships WITHOUT a mission. once they become neutral, land on Mactan and bribe them...They sell the dromedary. Also, montezuma in cortez sells the wolfhound which has reasonable cargo space for a fighter. (Liberty Rogue though) If you become fully friendly with the hackers the rogues should at least go neutral...good enough. Be careful though..neutral pirate factions will still occasionally try to steal your cargo. If you drop it though, they won´t attack you. PS. Magellan is NOT hispania...The hispania is very far away from there....(do some more exploring) (Hint: make sure the outcasts like you when you do that exploring or else you will find a hostile sabre with its guns up your butt real quick) Edited by - WingC3 on 22-02-2003 03:29:39

Yup, New York -&gt; Magellan jumpgate, access denied, even in the gold version, and you can´t jump Magellan -&gt; New York ether.

NY -&gt; Magellan gate is a left over from the experiments at Bedford station and Ithaca, when you and Juni use it Juni locks the gate so the Liberty Navy cant follow you. &quot;It is said that revenge is a dish best served cold, it is very cold in space.&quot; ~Khan, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

The gate actually never gets locked, you can go back through it once you´ve completed that SP mission. Makes a nifty cardamine run between Mactan and Manhattan.
