I know, but ask the pilots and ask them what they prefer to use. I am sure they say "The Cannon" DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

LOL! You missed my point. Todays aircraft don´t have 2 to 8 guns on their planes so they only use it as a last resort. But how can you compare a Space sim game with todays Aircraft. Talk about 2 totally different things. Man, you really need to get some vacation. But since you want to compare, let´s take the A10 Thunderbolt tank buster. What do you think they perfer to use when hunting tanks? Missles or that big arse 30 mm Avenger cannon? What airforce in Afghanistan? You can call 2 MiG 21´s hardly an Airforce. And I think they don´t even have those anymore, yes well maybe they do, in parts. It was not a credits issue, it just takes too long with a missile. I hardly use missiles in Starlancer either, because they take way too long to actually get there. Besides, you can dodge them without using decoys so how effective are they to begin with. Guns all the way, missiles are for the unskilled rookies. I have no idea about the weapons, I think I used my joystick buttons. (I got 8 buttons) I don´t know how you save the games, I have to go look for the manual somewhere. I didn´t really look further into the game yet because it just did not appeal to me the full 100%. I am prolly going to sell it, but it was very very cheap so it was no rib our of my body to begin with. At the moment I am playing IL2 Sturmovik, a WWII simulator. Back to the roots for me since I used to play a lot of European Air War, MS Combat Flight Simulator 1 & 2 and 1941 on my good old Atari a long time ago. Disable the 3D Sound if that is selected. To Striker: It´s not the DX version because I got Starlancer when it came out and then there wasn´t even DX8 and it worked just fine with DX7 and it still works with DX8. I agree, English is not everybodies native language so we are allowed to make spelling and grammar mistakes. If you say we can´t then I challenge you to type a little story here in Dutch and I will point out all the mistakes you made and tell you to watch it next time. I got I-War2, it is awsome. But it is also very very difficult. I got to tips for you. 1) When you turn set your throttle to 0 or else you will find yourself flying backwards at the same speed you were going forward. 2) When you are flying in a direction you do not want to go after a turn hit the "L" (Manual LDS) button twice really fast. You will find yourself going forward again at +/- 1000 mps. Have fun! DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

Maybe, but in Starlancer it all comes down to you, you and you and after that it´s more you. Now THAT´S realistic!! Your Wingmen do nothing, hell they can´t even shoot down a torpedo that is flying in a straight line for crying out load!!! You start to wonder why they even get payed. I was able to play Starlancer out with one eye closed and cooking dinner at the same time. And the multiplay is so boring you need match sticks to keep your eyes open. Well Major Striker, the fact that Starlancer runs smoother when Capital ships are involved is because the Capital ships in Starlancer do not do anything. They are weak and they just sit there waiting to get blown up. The Capital ships in Freespace 2 fight back with an arsenal 50 times more powerful then any Starlancer capital ship will carry. But Freespace 2 runs just fine on my PC, even when there are 10 or 15 Capital ships slugging it out with Beam cannons, Flak cannons and swarm missles. I even played a mission that was user made where 2 Capital ships covered by 100+ fighters needed to be destroyed. I ended up with 96 kills as a bomber cover pilot in a Heavy Assault Fighter. That is what I missed in Starlancer, the intensity of large scale battles where you really need to watch out where your going. In Starlancer your Wingmen warn you when you get to close to a Capital ship.....for what?? They don´t do anything. I got killed 2 times in Starlancer by a Capital ship because I just happend to be in the line of fire from one of those big guns or I flew into one of the heavy torpedoes by accident. I don´t even know how often I got tagged by a Capital ship in Freespace 2 by Flak, Anti Fighter beams or the swarm missiles. So don´t blame the game if it runs choppy on your PC because those Capital ships are doing their thing. Correct, and the same goes for Freespace 2. The only way to take a Deimos down is with Anti Matter Torpedoes. But you have to make an attack run and "dive bomb" it and release the torps at alost point black range and pray that you wont get hit by the anti fighter beams or the heavy flak. If you fire from far away the Deimos just shoots them out of space with 100% accuracy. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

Yeps, I totally agree Spear. Especially the Capital ships thing, they are way too weak. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

Not really, I had more trouble with the missions in Freespace 2 and I-War 2. The enemy fighters are easy to destroy and the Capital ships are not even remotely dangerous. As for the torpedo hunting, can´t get any easier then that, they just fly in straight lines. In that one mission where Foster rams his ship to save us all I managed to gun down all the torpedoes before they hit a single ship. And even the Black Guard ships are easy to destroy, besides you can see them while cloaked anyway. Same goes for the cloaked Kamov´s. And that last mission is indeed the hardest of all, but I finished that one as well, and Steiner survided it as well. I found it pretty funny that he joined the Flying Tigers in the end movie. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance

I have a USB Joystick, they are better on reation speed then any analog one. I had all kinds over time and I have to say that the old analog joysticks I had were crap over the digital and this USB stick. This USB stick is 100% accurate and when I fly my ship/plane does everything I do with my stick. I don´t know where ou heard that an analog joystick reacts better then an digital or a USB one but I can tell you it is not true since I used all types over time. I have been playing flight sims since I was 12 on my Atari 800XL with an Arcade 2 button joystick. At the time it was state of the art but if you compare that to the sticks now it is a bloody joke. The same goes for my Gravis analog stick, I would not buy one of those now a days. DSA Squadron Commander Dying Star Alliance
