    Appears I´m a little late to the party, but... You know what I remember most? The debates and disccusions about the most irrelevant things EVER! For example, the original cut of the intro had Mr. Rockford surviving the sun exploding on the other side of Pluto. It occured to me that he was a general, and had a perfectly good ship and he was hiding on the other side of the planet! I argued that he was a coward and was hiding from the fight. Of course, that doesn´t even begin to compare to the neuronet threads. Yeah, back then the neuronet would steer for us! I´m pretty sure several comparisons of joysticks to unflattering phallic proportions were thrown around. That was a long time ago, though. Oh yeah, I remember the agonizing periods that could last for entire seasons where we didn´t get a single word of any news from DA or MS. And then the magic moment when you load the front page and theres a new screenshot or some new preview with new information. Then there was the off-topic forum. All sorts of great stuff happened there. EB, Mad Dog and I would work a jab into every post about Stinger and Boscoe´s age. Steamed carrots anyone? Oh yeah. And any discussion I ever participated in with Rheinland Destroyer (where is he)? I swear, we could never agree on anything at all. Ditto for MinisterPhobia and Stinger. In fact, their inability to disagree eventually lead MP to leave the site, only to come back to the sweet embrace of our collective arms. I guess he left again though <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Wait, is Geek Orgy still around? I guess he was already mentioned, but I have to say resisting Zeratural´s communist propaganda was both difficult and entertaining. I remember being confused when I can´t find Denmarkian on Babelfish. I can´t remember how this injoke originated, but I think it´s pretty easy to figure out... <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Hmm. What else? Oh yeah. I used to fly around with Stinger, EB, and Mad Dog (and sometimes others) in Freelancer. Havn´t done it in a while, obviously. See, I´m a lazy bastard at heart, and it was terribly convenient to just click Formation on Stinger and turn and watch TV, only to come back and occasionally kill a flight of Outcasts or look at the new planet we found or something. Specifically, though, I remember the habit of our guide blindly trusting the autopilot to steer us around planets, only to send everybody trailing him to a fiery death barrelling into the planet at 300 kilometers a second, while goes on his merry way, and I remember *****ing about it a lot afterwards. That ruined FL for me. Even in SP I always use manual fight, even when I´m supposed to be in formation with a transport or something <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I also remember my habit of making bigass posts. For those who aren´t going &quot;Who the hell is this guy?&quot; and are wondering where I´ve been, well mostly I´ve been either studying, driving to the ends of the earth looking for a new place, moving to said new place in an entirely new city, or working on remodeling said place.   • Some Ideas for a Freelancer 2?

    The story was better than a lot of games and even full-blown movies that come out. Now that´s not neccessarily saying a lot, but it beats the hell out of Tolkien rehash fantasy RPGs (evil army is bad, get em´), FPS rehashes (evil corporate empire with army is bad, get em´) and any sci-fi game where an aggressive warlike race invades humanity on a whim, get em´! (Arguably FL could fit into this genre, though it´s not as bad since you barely even fight evil aliens, and it was self-defence against humans.   • SADDAM HAS BEEN CAUGHT!!

    Capturing Saddam does neither, however. Being careful not to stray into politics, capturing him makes us look no better (or worse) than we did the day before yesterday. It´s simply a new chapter in the unfolding events. Nor does it neccessarily rally the people, because according to some polls a good portion of us believe he should´ve been left alone. All this would accomplish would be to give the &quot;willing&quot; something to cheer about for a couple of days. No, if you wanted to fake something like this, you would fake a capture of Bin Laden. That would finally show progress in Afghanistan, and give a sense of closure to the events of two years ago. <img src=´http://tachyon15.homestead.com/files/tachsigbeta4.gif ´>

  • Best Buy - Preorder FL soundtrack?

    Hah, me get a cut? I wish. Not sure what´s on it, I´m sure at least most of them will be remixed for better normal listening. Just find it interesting that (at least part of) the soundtrack is being released. Don´t talk about P2P <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Also don´t know about sales.   • Is there news about an expansion/FL2?

    If they´re doing anything, they´ve certainly not told us about it, and aren´t likely to until whatever they´re doing is near complete. (Don´t read into this, I don´t know anything, just stating the fact.)

  • Half Life 2... Bye bye

    It does involve Half-Life 2, though. Just because a game is delayed, you don´t break into the developer and steal their work. The &quot;Anon&quot; guy seems to hate Valve, but when he was actually hacking into Valve´s network the game wasn´t delayed yet, and still could´ve been released (for all we knew). Now everybody has played a subpar mock of a rip that doesn´t even compare to the finished product. What´s it accomplished? Nothing.

Face it, you have a comp with a 3GHz P4, a Radeon 9800 Pro, a gig of 3200 DDR ram, and a 22 inch monitor. I think you can afford a freaking music CD. If you honestly believe that a CD costs too much, don´t buy it. Better yet, stage a protest and have other boycott it as well. But stealing it is never justified. Anyone who somehow justifies it is lying to themselves. I don´t use generalizations like this lightly. And, for the record, I freely admit to having MP3s. I just don´t try to make myself believe that somehow I am doing the right thing or fighting whatever power. Grow up

  • Half Life 2... Bye bye

    When did Valve &quot;lie&quot;? I was never led to believe the game was unscripted. If you didn´t script your game, it wouldn´t be a game, it would be a really crisp painting. They´ve said many times HL2 would have a lot of scripted sequences, but the key difference would be that you would not be locked into some sort of cinematic view to watch the event (like many games), and that it would not always be so glaringly obvious when it did (HL1 was pretty obvious). The only lie was when Doug Lombardi was still telling people it would be ready by the 30th, less than a week before the due date. That was pretty crappy, but honestly, the community massively overreacted. We do not, after all, live in a perfect world.   • ROTK trailer is up!

    Uhh, how can they be sold out already? Tickets for Trilogy Tuesday don´t go on sale until October 9th! I´m going with some friends, theater I know is only about an hour away. I definitely intend to buy the tickets online/phone the minute they are available <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Oh yeah, trailer is awesome.
