C´mon, it wasn´t half as bad as what you say. The mission brief was almost spot on everytime. Mission objective´s certainly changed mid way through a mission but that happens in real life. If you found Starlancer to much of a challenge I think you will find Freelancer infinatly more complicated and difficult. I for one had a ball playing Starlancer, it´s one of my all time favourites. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

Yeah, i´d agree with Arcon on that statement, definately from the Britonia House and it does look like an avertisement for a PC. Obviously after 800 years they still haven´t developed decent VR goggles. The screen to the far right almost looks like a security camera screen. Either way it´s a pretty cool shot. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

Actually, I will be interested to see how the game cube does. The thing that I see killing Nintendo, is that they always seem to have games developed towards pre high school kids, which are hardly the most profitable. But if they do deciede to push the 20-30´s market they may be able to make some serious dinero. As you said at least they have decieded to dump the catridge system, I was quite shocked to see that when they brought it out. The whole console scene scares me a little, they are getting a little to good and to take my previous example of Lucas Arts, they are taking away from the PC scene. Then again, ive only ever really enjoyed the simulated game side of things and am quite happy to leave the whole ´I need seven more power crystals to reach the next level to battle the evil wizard price´ games to console players. Just on the hardware acceleration, I didn´t pick up on the mention of D3D. So my point is conceded. But I think you are on the same train of thought as I am. Something with the grand scope of Freelancer could not be accomplished without the use of some serious hardware acceleration, but for lower end games then I think to knock of some of the whizz bang graphic options could be acceptable. At the end of the day though, anything that adds to the realism of game gets my motor running. Some of the visuals in Starlancer had me drooling and I cant even play an old space sim anymore without being tremendously dissapointed with the visuals. So i´ll say that while the Dogma guy may have a point, it would be an incredible shame if developers didn´t keep on pushing the limits of what eye candy they can pull out of a machine. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

Ive been playing a bit of Elite 2 lately (I know its old but im getting into it) and they have quite a cool way of going about it. The game has a number of different sized hyperdrives and the larger your hyperdrive the further you can travel before needing to refuel. So you can´t just jump your way to the other side of the galaxy, you need to stop and refuel before continuing on to your planned destination. Of course some area´s are completely inaccesible and you need to raise some cash to buy a bigger hyperdrive before you can get there. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

Im not so sure about this fellows comments, absolutley no 3d acceleration??? Now who in this day and age would buy a product only offering software 3d, 16 bit color at 640 X 480? I will admit that there is an awful lot of poorly designed games but to take a step back by 5-10 years in terms of technology growth is business suicide. Only a truly ground breaking game design would overcome something like this and I mean really exceptional. But and this is a big but you have to get (to use a euphamism) get the people through the door and you sure as hell wont do that with crappy graphics. As for the comment the PS2 is doomed, I must say I find that very hard to buy. Sony has released a top quality machine whose only competitor I see as being a threat is the X-Box. Sony has the upper hand as they havea massive market share already riding off their success with the original play station. Which I might add has survived through the release of the N64 and the Dreamcast. The X-Box may take the top step off Sony but it certainly wont be an easy job. As for first party developers, I don´t see that as an issue, they already have a heap of third party developers producing quality work. Lucas Arts for example have practically dropped everything PC to work on PS2 games. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

Nueral connectors would definately be the ultimate, but it´d take a fair bit of testing before I would plug my brain into one. If anyone is interested Tad Williams´ Otherland series of novels delves into Neuro connections, purely science fiction but very cool to read and plausible. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

hehe I also noticed that they stole a small piece of music from Predator but thats only right at the very end of it. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

Hopefully someone will put some more time into perfecting VR goggles and illiminate the need for a monitor all together. Along with something like a suit that applys pressure to different parts of your body, that would be the ultimate. -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

1. How will navigation between planets work? (ie will you have to fly via a number of waypoints before you reach the planet or will you jump directly to it?) 2. Same question but a little different, do you have control over your route to a different planet or is it all pre programmed? -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

hmmm, I don´t know if I would like cloaking. There´s always been something about cloaking that never seemed all that believable, but if it is in the game I think it should be an incredibly expensive add-on and only avalaible to certain craft. As for radar jamming, I like it a lot!!! It´d be real handy to sneak through cargo check points with (that is if there are cargo check points). -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

I doubt we will see the shroud in freelancer, though there could be something closely modeled to it. As for your next question, although I can see where you are comming from, I don´t think it is really relevant. You have to remember that Freelancer is set very much in the future so today´s perogatigve may be different from tomorrow. Britan were the masters of industry in the past, so why not in the future? -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

Yep it has been going slow, even at my night school which has a brutally fast connection it was slow. BUT it has been running very smoothly lately -------------------------- I like to talk about nothing as it is the only subject I know anything about.

I think I would like something like the Wolverine, that was a nice craft. A good amount of armour, manouverable enough, lots of missle hardpoints and lots of big ass guns with none of that nancy blind fire business. Of course lots of cargo space to store all of that contraband that I intend to be shipping wouldn´t go astray either.

So many evil jobs and so little time. I think I will start off as an above belt merchant and work my way into smuggling. Then perhaps some bounty hunting and finally sink to my lowest level with some dirty dirty piracy. Im getting all excited now.
