Right, you can´t take Al Rahan out in that mission. However, once I let the Ramases escape (on purpose, mind you - just to see what happens), and - what would you think - she joined the party in Mission 20, IIRC. Al Rahan in person comes in and it´s a piece of cake to take him out. It was worth it (remember, he called you a dork before). As to the warp gate: after destroying the Kurgen that was hunting the Gammas, forget everything and afterburn to those power cores. As soon as the research facility is dow, blast the cores. Then you´ll have the Krasny nicely cut into halves. Just hit the cores fast (missiles are also an option here). Well, that´s what I did. There could be other ways to do it. Guess there´ll be more replies - choose the one that appeals most. Good luck!

Now, that´s strange. Usually you just have to get in close and that´s it. No need to dive under it or sth. I don´t have a clue why it won´t connect. Think I´ll have to replay the mission once again (it´s been a while...) and see what´s going on.

Blowing up the Ion Cannon (Dark Reign) is easy - just hover on top of it and it´ll never target you there. After you have the coordinates of the shield generator, just get there fast - the rest is a piece of cake

Yes, there are ways to skip this mission (look at the downloads section - there is a cheat allowing you to select any mission and craft). However, don´t you find it challenging to finish the mission? As to nudging the flight recorder, you don´t need any physical contact with it - just fly close enought at minimum speed, and that´s it. Just don´t hit it - you can turn your ship, can´t you? Edited by - zlo on 04-02-2003 13:25:05

Taking out Pukov was fun, though dealing with the Cobras was even better (no torps around, at least). Yes, I also read the posting on landing, but nobody ever explained to me how to do it (though I asked for info). I think, maybe it was a bug or something - I never found any possibility to land manually.

Never managed to take out all the sats on the supply depot mission. Still, the more Coalition fighters arrive, the more fun you have, don´t you?

Hard to imagine, but SL crashed on WIN95 once, too (on mission 24, right after Perov jumped in). Still gan´t get what was wrong, but it never happened again. Microsoft is kinda mysterious sometimes

Guess I´ll trade as much as it´s needed to stand a fighting chance. Then.. Robbing sounds more attractive than buying and selling. After I get rich enough, maybe (just maybe) I will decide to come back to business and exploration. However, fighting appeals to me more.

Just entered X2 forum (actually, I only heard about it here) to discuss whether and why it´s worth to buy the game (I played a prequel) and got no negative responses. I guess all above-said is right - no need to worry about few when the vast majority is fine. Funny enough, those guys who wanted to provoke rivalry (call it what you will) succeeded - well, at least in provoking a lot of heated discussions. Why don´t we ignore the troublemakers - a provocation not reacted upon usually dies by itself.

I´m looking forward to some fighting combined with a good storyline and (at least some) freedom of choice. As for me, trading and stuff can be absent - I wouldn´t mourn that. Piracy is another thing (wonder if that´s gonna be possible - robbing another ship, selling the goods and upgrading my crate). Well. we´ll see how it goes.

Uh, does "soft target" mean it´s easy to take out or it has another meaning? Just for the sake of curiosity

I heard that, though I thought he said "bogies" instead of "Lokis". Well, looks like I´ll have to go through the mission again to make sure. Will be fun anyway. Speaking of the cannon, I usually afterburn to it right after jumping and take it out before it hits one of the Pumas. Piece of cake!

Amen to that, major Striker! As to guns in Hades, I guess we´ll never find out, since we´re not given the chance to fly it. theoretically, they could have them but, as in Kamovs, they shouldn´t be of any good, since the torps are their primary weapon. I never saw any of the torp bombers shoot their guns.

I wonder, if just one posting raised such a heated discussion (and, if I´m not mistaken, FL release deadline is still ahead), what´s gonna happen during the last days? I myself feel heated up hearing so much and seeing nothing so far. Darn, I´m looking forward to seeing this forum develop into what SL forum is now. If all the things said about FL are true (frankly, not everything appeals to me - but I can´t judge before I try this game), we´ll have a whole lot of things to discuss, heh?

I also tend to agree with NukeIt and not to discard all Coalition craft - some of´em are quite good (here I also agree on NukeIt´s choice, though I would add Loki fighter)

the one where you´re supposed to take out the Cobras? Thanx, I shall check it out! Though I still have no clue what these fighters are, except that you can take them out just like any others.

I agree, the last mission is annoying - I only managed to save Steiner once (poor pal, he had to die so many times). Mission 21 is aniussance too, though, since U just have to stay in formation and do nothing. Waste of time till you get to fight normally (after re-launching from the Yamato, I mean). Speaking of being whacked by friendly turrets (the big ones) - this happened to me too (though I never managed to run into a friendly torp though - just didn´t try). the only way is to stay away from their trajectory - usually it doesn´t change that much.

Yeah, the third co-pilot is a total mystery to me too. What does s/he do anyways?

Sounds ecouraging
