I wonder, if SL is falling out of grace (as someone said - too lazy to check out who), doesn´t this mean we have the twilight of SL forum on the horizon (I sincerely hope not)? Would be too bad

Hey, why worry about others making kills since you´ll beat them all towards the end of the game. What enervates me about Moose is not only that he can´t scare any Coalition fighters away from your tail, but also that he seems to have fun when soeone of your wing dies (BTW, did you notice that too often the same guys die over and over again - they have clones or what? : his "Someone´s bought it - they´ve had it" sounds somewhat, how to say, out of place? Is that a way to talk about the death of one´s friend?

I like the Reaper best - good firepower, strong hull, many hardpoints, though in mission 24 I still prefer the Shroud. Would be fun flying the Basilisk some day, though. Pity, you can´t fight on the side of the Coalition - wouldn´t it be cool being briefed by, say, Katrina (wonder if she resembles Enriquez in any way ), the Petrovs, or even Kulov himself? just kidding Just for the sake of curiosity, I saw a number of craft in the download section, but no Basisilsk Didn´t I search well enough or it´s just not available?

Well, some games are really good, and if I don´t have the means to acquire them, I just wait till their price drops (as happens to all games after a while). I know, waiting sux, but better later than never, heh?

I didn´t really like Wing Commander movie - somewhat weak storyline and acting. The game is way better (though Starlancer is my fav).

Well, I guess you just have to take´em outas fast as possible. Use S to select subtargets. After you destroy several of them, engines become the next subtarget. This doesn´t mean all turrets are out of the way (believing that cost me a failed mission). Just press S till you get a turret as subtarget. Hit´em till they´re finished. A good idea would be to take out some before engaging the Kamvos (i.e. ignore the fighters, afterburn to the Krasnaya, destroy the shield generator and some turrets till you get the warning about the Kamovs). After dealing with them, afterburn back to the Krasnaya and finish the job - this tactics saves time, though it also means you´ll have more fighters to protect the Gamma from. There could be other ways to do it, I guess (a good idea is reading the walkthrough and other postings)

I´ve already started the quest for WC - I ordered it at a number of local PC game shops. Hope at least one can get me this game. I also found WC: Prophecy gold pack (4CDs) on e-bay. Currently I´m trying to figure out how to get it. Wish me luck! Edited by - zlo on 16-01-2003 17:47:47

NukeIt : no blind fire against torps? Even on missions where you have swarms of them coming at you (e.g. mission 21 or 23)? Darn, you gotta have real good aiming. I´m deeply impressed. Edited by - zlo on 16-01-2003 15:07:34

I managed to destroy all torps without any damage to the Reliant (on easy level, though) by decreasing my speed and staying close to the mothership. If I started chasing the torps that were more distant, frequently I missed the others. Don´t forget to keep pressing T for torp targeting. However, mine was a PC version, so it can be that DC works differently (actually, I know nothing about this version of the game).

For me, the choice of the fighter depends on the mission (plus you don´t get too much choice at the start of the game). When available, I choose Reaper. Wolverine is cool, but kinda slow and a bit cumbersome.

Welcome! I loved the firing squad and the funerals too. It´s not everyday that you can attend your own funeral. BTW, it´s 4 am at my place now. See how crazy I am?

Got nothing against proton cannons, but the vulcan cannon is my fav (when available) - it´s long-range, and a copuple of blasts takes the torp out, while with protons it takes more time (at least for me).

This could well be the case. Well, nevermind. I´m darn glad 2 B here anyway.

Whoa, Fear Factor! This will do, this will do! (LOL). No need for any more search, I´m not even sure I can handle this much! And, let me know when I start overusing them Thanx a lot! Edited by - zlo on 15-01-2003 17:16:25

A number of games appeal to me, both RTS, FPS, and sims (especially space-sims, since I´m not too good at, let´s say, flying a WWII plane - rudder control is the wrost thing since I have no pedals). The main feature of a good game is that it should be catching, i.e. oughta have a good storyline. Go-and-kill´em all is kinda boring (though sometimes good for relaxation - Soldier of Fortune, for instance). RTS is usually the "blizkrieg" type, though I liked Ground Control and Starship Troopers. ANd, yes, the main thing is replayability, that is, where there is no strict single-line scenario. That´s why I liked Starlancer - you can fail a mission (sometimes; sometimes you just get kicked out and have to replay it), and it reflects on future missions. Extensive RGP elements are so-so (I didn´t like the X-Beyond the Frontier for that - too much trading, buying things, etc. before you get a chance to fight). Real fight - that´s what rules! (Guess I should stop now or else I´d go for another 10 pages, he he)

Thanx, Top Gun, though it sux a little when I can´t see what i get. Well, life is cruel

Thanx, Top Gun, I guess I can sleep peacefully now Oh, wait, still, why didn´t start with the recruit first? Although... I guess I should check my stats on my first posting.

Fear Factor : you helped me out once with the acronyms used in this forum (a heap of thanx!), so I figured maybe you can help me once again In short: how do I find out the meanings

@Jabba: well, I´m not sure I can agree with you. What do you call luck? Until I learned to stay in formation and not to worry about whether I deviate several inches from the position or not, it wasn´t that bad at all. Torp hunt sux, that´s true, but where
