I only play with friends so our pvp is more dueling in equal ships than "grief". However, it seems that in role-playing or real life the solution to someone giving you grief is to hire a bodyguard. I bet you could get a high level player to help you especially if you just want to get off the planet. That pirate won´t have time to hassle you if he has a lvl38 drawing a bead on him. In fact, couldn´t you turn the tables and demand money from him not to have him killed? Ghost

I´ll bet you all had the same problem. The Microsoft list server has been down at least twice this week. You can try all sorts of things but if you just wait awhile the server comes back up and it´s all good again. I have ip´s for a couple of servers and if the master server goes down I add those servers by ip and make them show up on my server list. Then I can connect fine. There are several threads in these forums that tell how to force a server to show up by ip. If you use the same server all the time you should see if you can find out it´s ip address and skip the middle man (Microsoft) Ghost

I appreciate the help. I was starting to think it was just me... LoL *edit* ok, It WAS just me... but thought I´d explain my question. I couldn´t read the tiny font for the post dates and couldn´t tell the diff between 3-2-2003 and 2-3-2003 (1024x768 makes for small print even on a 19" monitor). I was seeing 30 days posts and thought I was seeing 2 days posts. I would have caught it sooner but when I tried switching to 60 or 90 days the server was so slow I hit the "Back" button on my browser. You DO see links to other pages? That´s very interesting... Where are they located and what color are they? If they are there and I can´t see them then I have some detective work to do. My main interest in space sims has always been dogfighting, preferably in multiplayer. I use a joystick but the best players I´ve met in every game used a mouse. I´m told it´s harder to get used to at first but more accurate. I´d promised myself to start my next game using mouse control and see if it made me a better player. Freelancer took the joystick out of my hands and made it an easy decision. I think joysticks make for a easier transition from one game to the next but they may not be the ideal controller if you want to rule the galaxy lol If a patch added joystick support after you used a mouse for 3 or 4 months, would you switch? I wouldn´t, it would be a step back on the learning curve. There is something to be said for control realism in a sim but for me it´s all about being the best I can be. Ghost

*looks around sheepishly* Ahem, this may not be a game prob after all. It got really bad, going to a all grey screen during combat in clouds and flickering like it was trying to come back. Then it occurred to me, I was running some benchmarks the other day and had my GF4 cranked waaayyyyy up. Sound isn´t the only issue with mission 3. The guy who started this thread doesn´t have the sound bug.

Funny, the reason I´m here now is I have the same prob. I´m playing the PR beta, I hadn´t even died before this point and I seem to spontaneously explode as soon as the furball starts. It´s like someone hits me with a really advanced missile, a one hit kill. The longest I lasted I actually flew away from the fighting to make sure some glitch wasn´t destroying me. That worked fine but as soon as I entered the fight, BOOM! There was the &quot;other&quot; type of shield available before I launced for this mission. Maybe I should have bought it? Normally I hate spoilers but I´m so tired of flying this mission over and over I´m ready to quit the game <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Ghost
