I actually removed it. My webspace is down that´s why I´m not using a pic of my sig. That should be smaller than what I had up there. TY for bringing it to my attention. Also, can you remove the filter or at least edit it?? It´s blocking out the first four letters of my handle. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

I live in Jacksonville, FL. I was checking the Bestbuy´s and Compusa´s here and they listed the availability date of 06-Mar-03. EB (Electronic´s Boutique) lists it today. However, the EB here usually gets their new releases the following day, tommorow. You should check Bestbuy´s website for info though. From what I´ve read you can add new space stations to the Liberty system. Probably take a lot of time depending on your modding experience, but it could probably be done. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..." <img src=´http://www.crystalinks.com/quetzal.gif ´>

I´m usually traveling at the "cruise speed" through the fields, but I have shot the drums before. As for the debris fields in other systems, I would imagine they´ll exist. Be cool if there´s a ´roid field to play around in. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..." <img src=´ http://www.crystalinks.com/***opellibkwh.jpg ´>

Had the scripts wrong. For some reason, it´s putting the "***" in the URL of the picture I´m trying to use. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..." <img src=´http://www.crystalinks.com/***opellibkwh.jpg ´> Edited by - ***opelli on 04-03-2003 18:44:12 Edited by - ***opelli on 04-03-2003 18:45:10

That would explain a lot. Tiger - it´s 1630 EST because that´s when I get my "parole" from work. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..." [imghttp://www.crystalinks.com/***opellibkwh.jpg[/img

I can see your point about the "open ended" aspect of the game. I wouldn´t say that it won´t happen. I´m sure after the release, that some clever chap will find a way that allows cap ships to be piloted. Still seems to powerful though. Perhaps if you were to balance it out, maybe with a Flashpack like device or a weapon that can kill a player controlled cap ship in 4-5 hits. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

While it would be fun to take out a base, it would get old real fast if people just sit back destroying the bases. Disabling them is a good idea. If they´re to be destroyed, then have them respawn after a bit. You could also make them super powerful and very difficult to take out. Say if attacked, nice little armada of cruisers show up to defend the base. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

Hehe I´d like to plug a flash pack up one of the cap ship´s arses. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

I think the biggest cargo ship was the Orion class or something of that sort. Cockpits would be awesome. But getting rid of the 3rd person view to have a virtual cockpit would suffice. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

IMHO, it wouldn´t be as fun having the ability to fly a cap ship unless you could destroy a planet. Plus, you´d have the individuals using them in multi-play racking up the kills and stats by sitting there. Granted, the idea of a marauding about the galaxy wrecking as much havoc as humanely possible does give me an evil grin. However it would be a bit of an overkill, save to take out that gd´d Fort Bush or any other space station that´s in the way for the sake of taking it out. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

Gonna get a small parrot to keep in my ship and say "Arg matey" a lot. Will probably do trading and mostly bounty hunting. Leave the piracy for really bad days at work. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

A new poison that will lead to my divorce. I think it could be considered a space combat game. I´m waiting to see what the MPlay´s going to be like. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

Privateer was one of my favorite space combat games. I had to have two separate games though. Those merchant vessals were just too tempting sitting there all "plump for the picking." Only recent game that´s "open ended" was Derek Smart´s Battlecruiser Millenium . While the game had promise, it was way too buggy and tried to do too much IMHO. They did pick some hotties for the WC series. I chose Flint for WC, as I´m partial to brunnettes. I wish I could´ve chosed Panther from WC4, as she had a body. As for Prophecy, Stilleto was pretty hot too. Although I couldn´t understand why casey would want to date some one the age of his mother. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

This topic has been debated before in other forums regarding the legality of mods based on other games, movies, and even mods in general. You´ll have to understand, I´m not an attorney. I was foolish enough to fall for the IT industry. I don´t play Quake, so I wouldn´t know about the incident with the DBZ mod. I do remember a modder for Swat3 was threatened by Fox for a "Die Hard" mod that was made. However, that´s been about the only two incidents to my knowledge that´s occured. I was simply posting as a suggestion. Unfortunately, I don´t have the time required to put out decent mods. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."

For being illegal, I´ve seen plenty of Wing Commander mods for other games not to mention mods based on other titles/movies. Battlefield 1942 for example, has a "Black Hawk Down" mod in the works. I have also seen mods for RPGs, (Morrowind) based on the Ultima Series and more recently J.R. Tolkien´s Lord of The Rings. Now, Chris Roberts can´t do that, as WC was property of Origin, which I believe was bought by Electronic Arts. "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance..."
