What´s the difference between theory 2 and theory 6? And, although I subscribe to the big bang theory, I don´t think there´s anything about it that rules out the notion of God, but maybe I´m wrong?

"133t" or "l337" is a habit of (my bias is coming out here) some people of questionable mental competence who believe it is cool to make communication as difficult as possible. The idea is to replace symbols normally used to represent number or letters with symbols that are not normally used to represent those same numbers or letters. "133t" = "leet," etc. There is also a tendency to replace some letters or letter combinations with symbols that represent similar sounds (Thanks = thanx). I once ran across an article by a professor of writing somewhere who thought this was just the coolest thing and much more effective as a means of self-expression than conventional English. I think that professor is on crack. Enthusiasts apparently differentiate between a formal and informal form of the "language" (it´s not a language, it´s an alphabet at best), Hardcore L337 and L337 Lite or something of that sort. Below are exambles of the Light then the Hardcore taken from http://www.cscentral.com/features/l33t/ Please do not abuse them. A Sample Conversation In L337 Light: Joey- H3Y, BUD! Bill- H3Y, D0 ! The Guide is a trilogy of five books by Douglas Adams, who passed away not too long ago. The premise of the series is that incredibly weird stuff is always going on, for no reason, and no one really understands why. It starts when Arthur Dent, a resident of Islington, narrowly escapes when his house is buldozed to make way for a new high way bypass. He then meets his friend Ford Prefect, who informs him that he (ford) is in fact an alien and they must leave the planet immediatly, because an alien construction fleet is about to destory the earth and make way for a new hyperspace bypass. So they leave the earth and stumble around the universe, helped by the handy guidebook "The Hitchiker´s Guide to the Galaxy." They continue to stumble for 5 books. Then they stop. Some of it is amazingly funny stuff, some of it is pretty insightful. Like his theory on unpowered human flight. Don´t know why it hasn´t become more popular.

Wasn´t there a two hour mini series of this that ran years ago? Actually, I´m sure there was, because I thought it had been better done than the books. But, with LXG´s extrordinary failure, I have lost all faith in the movie industry to be able to tell a good story they did not write from scratch themselves. One more to possibly - possibly - consider renting when the DVD comes out.

So I was a freshman in college, and during my first few weeks I spent tons of time hanging out at the front desk to my dorm meeting people. One day I show up there and there are these two young women hanging out there also. So we get to talking and eventually the questions of majors comes up. I am a classical languages major and said so. I asked the ladies what they studied. "Art," they responded, the one, drawing and other, painting . I got up and started to walk away. One of the girls asked where I was going. I answered, "You girls are just so two dimentional." True story.

Who told you it has good weather? Sure, it´s 90+ degrees right now, but that´s unusual in the extreme. It´s usually overcast and drizzly. A few years ago we had over 100 days of consecutive overcast skies. And a town just across the puget sound has the record for snowfall in America. Seatle weather is nasty, nasty stuff, my friend. Don´t let our "Emerald City" propaganda fool you.

Seattle? A cultural hotspot? Well, we have a lively Jazz scene, and there are always Ska and Grunge bands and such crawling around. Pike Place Market. Best microbreweries in the country, Seattle´s Best Coffee(I actually grew up on the island where they have their roasting facilites. Back in the 80s it was callet Stewart Brothers Coffee. Then they got sued by some other company called "Stewart Brothers" and changed their name. Bet that other company wishes it had changed its name instead), a fantastic childrens´ theater. The mountains are about 1-1.5hrs away. Traffic sucks. Parking sucks. Public Transportation sucks. Athens has better public transportation than Seattle. So I guess it could be a cultural hotspot, but only a hotspot for Seattle culture. If that made any sense. PS, if you visit, stay away from Tacoma.

Aren´t the BD trying to restore a gov´t that´s been out of power for some centuries? It´s like if the French tried to put a descendent of the French kings back in power. Not only is it unlikely to succeed and a waste of resources on both sides, but in all likelyhood the old gov´t couldn´t run Kusari any better than the current.

Hmm... France vs. England... The Catagories: War: Hastings - France wins 100 Years War - France wins American Revolution - France wins French and Indian War - England wins Waterloo - England wins Outcome: France by 1. Culture: French wine vs. English... do the English make wine? - France wins Impressionism vs. Imperialism - England wins Cricket vs. any French sport - France wins Eiffel Tower vs. Tower of London - England Outcome: Draw. Philosophy: John Stuart Mill vs. Rousseau - England wins (all that "We will make you be free" business gives me the willies) Outcome: England by 1. Science: Newton´s Gravity vs. a souffle - France wins Outcome: France by 1.

I love Seattle and will probibly settle here when I get around to settling. How can anyone not like Pike Place? But there´s a lot out there, and I´m not going to stay at home and hope I can travel when I retire. No sir, I´ll do it now thank you, and pay for it anyway I can. Hopefully aquiring a kick-ass education in the process.

Dream deathmatches Mariners Hero Bret Boone vs. American Hero Daniel Boone (?)) Arcon, I´ve only encountered one website that didn´t work properly with Netscape, so it´s really not an issue if websites I don´t use aren´t configured for it. As for being nieve about the war, did you know that the US gets most of its imported oil from South America? If we were going to war for oil we would have sent troops to Venisuela to stop those oil strikes. Europe gets its oil from the middle east.

The fact is I can´t uninstall it. If I "uninstall it" from the add/remove panel, it removes the bloody SHORTCUTS! I seem to remember a court order that was supposed to make it possible to remove IE from my machine, but apparently Bill has decided court orders don´t really matter. I´ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get that thing off my machine, and the closest I´ve come is making a dual boot xp/2000 system and deleting every file that has any association with IE. I don´t suppose anyone out there knows a more pratical way to do this?

Arcon, I, living in the same state as our friend BG, haven´t seen one cent drop in oil prices. I doubt Americans are buying significantly more oil now than they have in any summer we haven´t fought a war in. So it seems unlikely that American citizens AND oil execs both benefit from Iraqi oil. A bette explanation for the war, IMO, is that sooner or later we would have had to get involved for some reason, and it was better to do it now, BEFORE (yes, that´s what I said) Saddam got big, bad, weaps than afterward. I don´t agree with this, but it is much easier for me to believe than the oil theory. Don´t people realise that Americans have other things to worry about than oil? Like innercity schools or the latest Reality TV show? But I do agree BG is a bastard. For 1) gobbling up my favorite game manufacturers. 2) Making it Damn Hard to use the web browser of my choice, by which I mean not having web browsers I don´t like or want on my computer. 3) By using his dominating market share to leverage 1 and 2. Capitalism is about having a choice where to spend time and resources. I´m supposed to spend money on items (real or IP, doesn´t matter) that I decide best fill my needs. IE doesn´t, at least the way its implemented in XP. My system memory is much freer with Netscape, I can do more with Netscape, Netscape has been more stable. But I still have to have IE on my machine because Bill Gates says so.

Starwars is more embedded in the cultural contiousness. I only know three people who haven´t seen starwars, and I don´t know any that don´t recognize and understand things like "Use the Force, Luke!" As far as star trek goes, the most cultural penetration is phrases like "Beam me up, scotty," and "Warp Speed." As much as I hate to say it... since ST is better SciFi IMO than SW, the SW geek will seem less geeky, therefore more likely to get laid. When I say ST is better SciFi, I mean only the first two series. After that, i think it went down hill.

If I had only got sex ed from my parents, I´d be practicing the rythme method right now, and there´s a reason why I have 6 siblings. Thank God for porn. FreighterFighter, I´m not sure what you meant by that "Second page, second argument" bit. I had a look, but nothing was clearly the second argument. do you care to elaborate? If a sperm bank father has no responsablity to the woman and child, then we know that the biological father of any child is not obligated merely because of shared genes, right? Would it be fair to say obligation, if any, comes through a physical/personal relatioship with the mother? And if that´s the case, is any obligation owed to the child, or is it only the mother that would hold the father´s obligation?
