You could go to Proxima 24/7 or Elite, where most of the popular clans/players go. Although as you expected they have some of the more unpopular people in Freelancer as well, but they are still the best servers I think. Or you could come to our own (RNs) server called Boston Freelancer Server, for a more quiet environment, where I´m sure some friendly RNs would help you with any questions or problems you have. How about a dynamic economy, say if there is a freighter shipping food to a lonely station in the middle of nowhere, and you killed that freighter. Now the demand for food at that station would be far greater, and they would pay a larger price for the food than if you hadn´t killed the transport. Yes...I admit, I got this idea from X2 The Threat

Shadow is referring to the ORIGINAL homeworld I beleive, not Homeworld 2. Correct me if im wrong

Dutch was simply stating the server rules. He never stated that he didn´t dockcamp, so whats your problem? Did you know that hes joining NEO, and that NEOs PK and dock camp on purpose, purely for fun? As for saying "his bark is worse than his bite" - whats that supposed to mean? Dutch is one of the most decent people I know playing freelancer, and if he insulted/threatened you excessively then he must have had a good reason. Anyway this is a thread about Proxima server, not the ethics of dockcamping or an individual person, take your flames elsewhere and keep this thread to the topic.

Hey bob, I found something just for you: Running HW2 on below minimum system requirements: http://forums.relicnews.com/sh…php?s=&threadid=16290 Hope it helps Stick you in? I would like the game to have some REAL mining aspects, shooting random flying rocks is rather lame, although fun. How about something like what was in Frontier: Elite 2 and First Encounters, where you could buy a mining probe and launch it at asteroids, then come back later and see what it had harvested. Or, it could have large Asteroids that you could land on and mine, provided you had mining equiptment. Also, have the really cheap stuff easily accessable, but have the really good stuff (diamonds, gold, minerals, stuff like that) in hard to reach places, so that you might even require escorts (in MP) to protect you while your mining. Anyone else got some ideas that would make mining much more rewarding and complex?

Heres one: A looong time ago I was on a ferry cruise around Sydney harbour, and before the cruise me and my dad had joked about being seasick (this ferry was really going up and down, quite alot of wind). After we got off and were walking along the wharf, my dad was a little ahead of me, so I decided to play a trick on him. I ran up to him and caught hold of his arm and made vomiting noises, you know "BLUUUUUUUURRRGGGGGGHHH!". I looked up and saw this strange bearded guy staring down at me with a terrified look in his eyes, he must have though I was an escaped loony or something....needless to say I was QUITE embarrassed Another time, when I was younger still, I decided I wanted my fingers to be pointy, like pencils. Well to me, the logical thing to do was to sharpen them with a pencil sharpenner. I incerted my finger, and gave a sudden twist. You can guess what happened next: yes, blood all over the place, concerned mum driving me to the hospital, having to explain that I wanted sharp fingers and used the pencil sharpener. Luckily I was too young to really feel embarrased. And finally, one day this doofus of a big kid tackled me in class, and I fell all on top my female (yes, young and pretty and also wearing a mini skirt) art teacher. Rather awkward landing positon, too. Well, thats it folks Edited by - Griffon_26 on 18-09-2003 09:47:13 Edited by - Griffon_26 on 18-09-2003 09:50:41

Umm, that should run it ok, just keep the graphics settings down a bit (turn shadows off, that seems to help alot.) " So its a clan/armada sort of thing basicly and we get to put /ME/ or watever the clan abrev. is after our name " I´m not sure what you mean, are you asking what the tag/name format is for the clan? Its [RN (be sure to add the [ at the end, forum takes it out) and then your name, no spaces. So like [RN Griffon_26. What do we do? Er, well, play? Win? Lose? Have fun? Thats about all you can do really We have a few people already interested, from our Freelancer squadron and other divisions, although none of us actually have the game yet! We play the demo though. The games very different to Freelancer (in that its a RTS) and basically what you do in a clan is well...have matches against other clan players, and then boast about it afterwards =P, or maybe take part in a ladder or competition. Nothing like Freelancer where clans "declare war" on other clans and fight them all the time, in this type of game its a little less aggressive and there is little distinguishment between "friendly" and "hostile" clans as in Freelancer, you play against them just the same whoever they are, when you play a match against another clan its like sport, you don´t "declare war" on them and become hostile. Of course, there are people with bad sportsmanship who view winning or losing as a matter of life or death ANYWAY, Thanks for the quick reply, check out our site and forums, we should get an actual site for HW2 up soon (I hope) Bye, Griffon PS. What system do you have? Works fine for me with PIII Geforce 3, that sorta thing Minimum specs: Pentium III 833 MHz, 256 MB RAM, Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, DirectX 9.0, 32 MB DirectX-compatible video card, DirectX-compatible sound card, 16x CD-ROM drive, and 1.6 GB hard-disk space Edited by - Griffon_26 on 18-09-2003 05:01:46 Edited by - Griffon_26 on 18-09-2003 05:02:39

It takes more than a year for a game to "stop". Any game that can be played online, with a successful community will never really stop until well.....I dont know when. Even games like ROR, AOK, AVP2, are still played quite alot and getting new players all the time. Of course, there is always a steady decrease in the number of players, but that happens over a loooong time.

Ahh, by storage depots you mean that little grey metal cross eh? If you were shooting at that, nothing will happen. You have to shoot at the tank-like storage containers that they are holding, BUT, sometimes these are already blown by other players that may be why you didn´t see them. They regen at the same time as wrecks do, I think.

put it this way - A well fired missile or torp can make the difference between killing the opponent in one pass, or having to turn around and make another.

Yes, we have heard your rant about how real "war" involves years of conflict and death and famine and whatnot, but I´m sure you know that when we say clan "war" we mean a series of battles or a battle in a game. It just like saying I "killed" someone in that game. You arent using the term killed as if you were saying to the police I killed so and so physically are you?

Some bum threatening to hack the server, then when I threatened him with ban (was in deputy charecter) he got all nice saying "I´m only joking! No! Sorry!" Wasting my time listening to players rant about how they can bring the server down and that they are hackers, such is the life of a deputy. 15 hours logged on that charecter, 14 of them listening to newbies whine on. Still, you have a sense of power and authority, especially when the newbs think your the admin!
