Anybody else remember this game Tyrian where you could get this carrot-shaped ship that fired explosive bananas?

I was actually more upset by the apparent lack of mouse invert than the lack of a joystick (although admittedly both would be nice ...) I kept on going up when I wanted to go down, etc. -- messed me up for quite some time <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

I haven´t tried the Eagle yet, actually, and am planning to to see what all the hype´s about ... but for me personally, the Sabre definitely wins in the looks department <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

I think somebody mentioned that if your wings got shot off and you lost your guns with them, you´d get them back after you died and respawned? Have you ever witnessed the highly embarrassing death that occurs when your autopilot decides that the fastest way to dock is going *through* the station to the docking bay of choice? My poor friend wasn´t aware that you could press esc to abort the docking process, and got dock-buffeted to death <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> That´s gotta be right up there with leaving the computer and coming back to find yourself burned up in a planet´s atmosphere <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

I would definitely agree that, despite all the complaints of stability, lack of variety, etc. etc. -- the worst part of the game is most definitely its addictiveness <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> In fact, I would wager that the people getting upset over relatively trivial matters *wouldn´t* be, if the game were not as engaging as it were. <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I think the box should have a warning label on it that says stuff like &quot;Freelancer may cause you to forgo necessities such as sleep and personal hygeine in favour of gaming&quot; ... <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

So when you don´t have anyone around to look at you flying, is the way you see if you´re &quot;tagged&quot; by looking at which faction is flashing? If so, they seem to be pretty forgiving -- I was Navy for the longest time, even after I wasn´t even green with them and was wrecking them in order to win favour from the Outcasts/Rogues <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

For the longest time, I liked Planet Curacao <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> But I do have to say though, Vogtland Base and Planet Malta win major points for me, just because they looked nothing like what I expected (I figured Vogtland to look just like any other asteroid base, w/ no particular landing sequence ... and Malta to look all dark and evil and stuff) <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Plus, the landing music for Malta is pretty heroic and neat <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>
