What was pointed out was the the player was using Nomad LASERS, which are not dropped by the Nomads and you can ONLY equip them via cheating. I am not sure about the Lvl 10 graviton shields. There are Level 10 shields you can buy in the game. But I do not recall if they are Positron or Molcular <spelling, I know...> shields. Lvl 10 graviton shields may therefore also be a non player equiped item, without modding that is.

Griffon, the odds are, you were banned from Elite when you admited cheating per our consveration in the Dresden system about a week ago. That´s when I noted that you jumped from level 1 to level 71 within minutes and you were automatically kicked off and you came back online at lvl 1. No, I did not report you since you said that you would not do any "editing" (cheating) again. But I suspect either you did started cheating again, and cheating is defined as doing ANYTHING which is not 100% orginal FL orginal INI files or exploites, or the Elite Admins are less forgiving than I was, and did not give you a second chance. Play clean on the other servers, or you will find yourself banned from them too.

Did it ever occur to you too actually "GASP" buy the game?

For me, SP is just too boring. In MP, you can interact with other players, from total newbies to old hands. The Clans generally stick to certain systems, and most will leave you alone. Their wars, taunts, and accusations add to the background flavor of the game and for the most part, I like that. It is the players in lvl 10 ships attacking newbies on cargo runs which can be irriating. However, these are for the most part a minority. And if you get killed by one, write down their name, warn other players, and seek them out later with a better ship! PvP is part of the MP expierence. It sucks when you get killed with a full load of cargo, but it is lot of fun turning the tables on them. You can play on server which do not allow PvP, but that gets old after awhile, no risk, no danger, no real fun. For PvP servers, I would just avoid servers which do not have any rules about no PvP in Manhattan or Liberty space. Tried a few the other day when Elite was full and Seattle was down, and within minutes, was killed in my little starflier by lvl 10 ship players camping in Manhattan on two different servers. One was San Diego and cannot remember the other one. Getting started on those systems is a bit difficult. <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> So, try MP, read these forums for advise and tips, and enjoy. There are a lot of interesting players out there to interact with, so have fun.

I would also add that if you already have a lot of money and there are noobies around, let them get the goodies. Flying a Drom, I could tractor in a large portion of the loot. But by the time you get a Drom, making money quickly should not be a problem for you as it is for noobies.

I would also be interested in this &quot;Feighter for Hire&quot; scheem. Sometimes, it becomes boring running the same trade routes over and over. I fly a Dromedary under the call name of either Panzer or Panzer_Guderian on Elite and other servers. Currently I am Lvl 50 on Elite and will stay in a Dromendary until I find out what the max level is with the new patch.

Player Doobie: Lvl 38 in Eagle, all 10 class weapons (no lvl 9 ). Still had unsold lvl 1 shield, LOL Have screen shots if you need them for Doobie. One other player. Giving away millions of credits to newbies: Shadow_knight May be in cohoots with above: Shadow_warrior Other players cheating, player killing: Gatewaxa , gate camping and killing in Manhattan again. I posted already about him but could not remember name right though. Killed me with my first full load of cargo a couple of weeks back. TE_Darkknight (or something similar) Went from lvl 1 to 27 instantly. I suspect Darkknight and shadow_knight are the same player. I am no longer having any problems. Here is what happened. When the Globalhost was down, this caused my FL game to freeze and therefore, I had to reboot. Somewhere along the line, my system bacame unstable with the reboots as I foolishly kept trying to get online again with MP. The unstablity maybe related to FL, maybe not. After wiping and re-installing XP Pro, FL would not run correctly, as already stated. After expiermentation found the problem was the video driver. I used the default ATI video driver which XP installed. This did not work. Nor did the latest 3.2 ? driver from ATI work either, same symtoms. However, a driver from about 8 months or so ago from ATI worked without any probems. Since I am at work, I do not have the exact version. Since installing, have had many hours in MP without anyout freezes or CDT. Hopes this helps your troubleshooting in similar cirmcumstances.

Gene, First, let me say thanks for putting up a FAST server with a fast connection, letting us serious gamers play and interact. As Bax said, yesterday evening it was Vax (not Vex) who was getting their pathatic jollies killing newbies out of Mahnattan. Two days ago it was some player named something like Caxumbaxta. I suspect that these two are one and the same, parked with a maxed out sabre, attacking at over 2k distance. Interesting, he/she left after Esien_Asher (sp?) heard about this and was heading towards Manhattan to deal with him and I was mentioning that prehaps you could ban his IP and send it to other FL admins. It would be nice if this was possible, BTW. In any case, I understand that there is not much you can do about cheaters. You cannot admin the system all day all the time, and perhaps it is starting to get a hassle, which I hope not. The high speed and relibility of your system which makes is so popular with players also attracts the script-kiddie cheaters. In any case, thanks for hosting FL. I shall try play as often as real life allows.
