The "best" Light Fighter is the Drake, it´s much more maneuverable then the rest. And if you´re using Light Fighters, it´s maneuverability, not power you´re after.

Can a cruiser even fit through the rings? Anyways, I´ve never lost to him either in an unmodded game. I´ve flown him with a Cavalier, Crusader, Dagger and Legionnaire at least. Although, all of them except the crusader are pretty fast &gt;_&gt;

A good general tip for finding bases that you aren´t exactly sure where they are is to fly to their general loction (like north from Manhattan) and turn on the patrol paths for the status the owners of the base are to you. Then just fly to the point where the patrol paths meet and voila, instant base or jumphole.

Or you could just fire a torp when passing by the enemy. Although, there is a higher chance you´ll miss that way.

Actually, I find Paint Shop Pro pretty lacking compared to Photoshop. I don´t have any experience using it, but I´d recommend <A href=´http://www.gimp.org´ Target=_Blank>&quot;GIMP&quot;</a>. Not much. Completed Freelancer´s story mode yesterday, been a long time since I last did that, but I guess I won´t be playing it any longer for a while. Installed Fallout Tactics, it´ll keep me busy for a while. And then playing Warcraft 3 happily against the computer every now and then.

For that mission once you get to Quintaine´s, you´ll fight those Rheinlanders, and then stat flying away. You´ll head for the Leeds Jump Hole, fight a few Rheinies along the way, and then go to Leeds. Then the next mission begins. Although, there´s no way you can play the whole game without sound (or well, it is possible, not just very fun) so I recommend back-upping your savegame (my documentsmy gamesfreelancer), uninstalling and reinstalling.
