Actually that´s what I was thinking too. I you want to just chat use a messenger service, why tie up a player slot if you´re not going to play. In fact on a lot of servers now you would get kicked anyway. I can see packet translation for a lot of other purposes though, like a 3d mapping system that Admins could use to see where everyone is on the server. But when you can only log in between 20 and 30 players I don´t think anyone is going to appreciate player slots being taken up for non player activities.

I think a click was in order a few pages back, I can remember playing a couple years back on a server that allowed all kinds of mods. And I remember this one script kiddie that spent all of his time in cloaked ship with one shot one kill weapons and an uber hull and Shields hovering around Manhatten shooting at anyone and everyone. You´d be blown away after never having seen who shot you, without a chance to defend yourself and then get the same treatment over and over again everytime you undocked, then this little punk would gloat and say things like "My 1337 skills Roxerx, all worship me I am a God" or some similar gibberish. Oh ya that was just so much fun....NOT. Needless to say that not long after this, that server became a ghost town, and was eventually shut down. And that little punk became a pariah that was unwelcome on any other server where he logged in under the same name. Discussion of the Cloaking mod was banned from TLR for a very good reason, its introduction was a disaster for the MP Freelancer community. Why can no one understand this?

This guy is Nixon, check the typing and grammar, he thinks that by logging in under different names he´s going to fool people into thinking he has some support, then he use then same lack of punctuation and grammar under every alias. It´s funny as hell really.

Full servers are what you want, If you keep trying you´ll eventually find an opening.

Pinger´s idea is even better, just remember to write down your new MP ID# so you don´t have to go through this again.

Freelancer save files are stored in your documents folder under "My Games". Check out the Ioncross character editor from Joe Boomz, you can download it here or from the Ioncross site, he has made a lot of cool utilities for admining a server, create a new character and then edit it to give you your lost cash. that´s the only way I can think of, without your MP id number you´re S.O.L. otherwise.

Remember it was a "Second Level" secret war, the average Joe wasn´t meant to know about it, I played through the SP game and gleaned that from it, some of the it I am disappointed in. I would love to be able to fly around the Nomad sphere, and even if all it was a secret, they could still provide you with a nice ship and a pack of cash, but on the whole I understand it.

Freelancer isn´t dead, but it´s downside is the lack of an instant action mode in multiplayer. There is no hop in and start shooting here. It takes hours to work your characters up to the point where they are more than just potential victims, the first 4 or 5 times doing this is interesting, there is a lot to explore in the Freelancer galaxy, but after repeating this theme for the 10th, 15th, or 20th time (a process that must be repeated on each new server), it becomes downright monotonous. I´ve often suggested for those wishing to start a server for Freelancer veterans, to set the starting credits to 1or 2 million, so players can go immediately for a decent ship and get down to the business of shooting each other, which is what multiplayer is all about.

Browclopsia is shutting down, Nov9. It´s not a new idea, Browclopsians have had clans claiming and governing different systems for some time now. I´m glad to hear that others want to keep the idea going.

Freelancer information is stored under this key in your registry, hope it helps. HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFreelancer

Yes, and once again the message is remember to write down your mp id# with a real pen and paper (I wrote mine inside my instruction manual). It comes in handy for just this situation.

I think you mean Visual Basic, and yes you need the runtime to use Joe´s utilities.

IONCROSS and Excelcia are both modded servers, Excelcia has a detailed roleplaying theme going on, If your just starting multiplayer, I´d recommend Boston, before getting into mods and modded servers. Edited by - DocFuglyMark on 21-10-2003 22:13:18

No fighter can mount 8 guns, if it´s not a mod then you have a conveniently corrupted ini, anyway it doesn´t matter, Meiyo has decided to pull the plug November 10th, so Browclopsia soon will be no more... At lot of Browclopsians have moved to IONCROSS and Excelsia, and some are playing Boston. Change is the only constant in the universe.
-
Ya if you like playing alone, sorry to say, server has been kind of empty of late.

This is spoiler material, but if you check the downloads section, theres some Excel docs with all the goodie locations.

Killzone as I told you before, your "Unique ship" is a mod, and mods are not allowed on Browclopsia, I took screenshots of my scans and Our conversation but I didn´t report you because I thought you´d heed what I told you about mods on the server, but if your going to continue to use that mod on Browclopsia, I´ll forward the screen shots to the admin.

The biggest draw of Freelancer is multiplayer, buy the game, it´s worth it. If player vs player doesn´t interest you, there are a number of servers that are setup for co-operative play, or you could start one of your own. You really should give Multi player a chance, once you have, I´m sure it will make you a believer.

Use the Cloak or any other Mod on Browclopsia or any other unmodded server and you will be banned, count on it.

God, there always has to be one in every crowd. Hey man, the war´s over, you can get parts for your head now.
