Trade tip for making money early in the game: Once you can get a Rhino and fill it, take Luxury Consumer Goods to the GC base (Atla?) in Hokkaido, bring cardamine back to Manhattan. If you do it early enough in the game, everyone in Kusari should be neutral or friendly with you (kill too many pirates and the all important GC start turning hostile). The only significant danger you face is from Lane Hackers in the border systems between Liberty and Kusari space. Upgrade to a Kusari freighter when money allows. And yes, go the long way around Manhattan by exiting the trade lane early to avoid some problems with the seemingly ever-present police outside the planet.

Don´t rely on the Anubis, it´s a very poor excuse for a "VHF"-class. Some of the upper-end HF´s like the Valkyrie actually outperform it in almost every way. Anyway, don´t discount a ship based solely on what it doesn´t have. The ship with few batteries/bots that is able to run circles around the ship with plenty will end up winning. All the bots in the world won´t matter if you can´t hit your opponent but he can hit you.

Are you in single player? Multiplayer? What does it say is the mission requirement? Give some more details and we´ll be able to help you better.

Right, leveling up is determined by your "assets," not just money. Money is one aspect of assets, but so are your ship, its weapons, shields, equipment, etc. Hence why a person who just started and got 500k credits from a friend will still be lower level than someone with a decked-out Eagle and 500k credits.

I´m here for two reasons: -Over time, I´ve learned a lot about the Freelancer Universe. However, there´s still plenty I don´t know. Perusing the threads is interesting to fill in these gaps. -I´ve had plenty of experience with the game, both single-player and multiplayer, and like to offer my opinions, advice, and assistance to others when requested...or sometimes just when I feel like it :p But I always do try to keep it clean and out of the "flames."

Out of the VHF class, the Eagle is probably the best. Basically, the Titan has the best armor but slowest turn rate, the Sabre has the best firepower, and the Eagle has the best agility (relatively speaking, for a VHF, lol). The turning advantage usually puts it over the top. The order Anubis barely qualifies as a VHF and is far inferior to any of those three. That said, the best ship isn´t necessarily a VHF. Plenty of pilots fly the super-agile Drake Light Fighter, and I personally like the challenge of flying something like a Banshee instead of my ship doing half the work for me. So it´s really an open-ended question.

I´m pretty sure the Level is 30 or 31. For some reason, I also found they dropped more often when I had more than 1 million credits as well. Based on assets (e.g. your ship and its equipment), you can have a high level with little money. Try getting up to at least 31 with 1 million credits in addition to your other assets.

Technically, no. You do not have to do missions. However, unless you have a buddy to set you up with some credits or find a server with a mod where you start with some real money, you´ll need to do at least several missions to earn enough to be useful. Typically, once you can get a Rhino with a full cargo hold, you can shun missions and just trade for awhile to get plenty of cash.

All Alaska actually contains is a prison base. You go there during the storyline, but you can´t buy anything or visit the pub or anything like that. Other than that, there are a lot of mines floating around...and that´s about it.

It´s actually Yo ho, Yo ho, a Pirate´s Life for Me. There´s two "yo ho´s". Sorry if this is too off-topic. -Striker44

And friendly with the Bundschuh...there not exactly friendly with law-abiding folk, if you know what I mean <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

Yeah, just dock somewhere. You´re friendly with the group in general, but you did shoot the guys in that area, so they´re going to be pissed (and rightly so, if you think about it). Docking usually resets it, though.

The Rhineland ships, I´m quite partial to the Banshee, though I tend to use it for pirating.

That. Was. Awesome.

Two stupid deaths for me: One, I had actually just died from the intense radiation near the center of one of the Omega systems (the one with the Hessian base, Omega-11 maybe? It has the rings of asteriods with wrecks near the center). What did I do on respawn? Went right back to see what happened... Two, I was flying towards a sun for the first time, I heard a voice say something, couldn´t quite make it out, so I just kept flying straight ahead. It spoke once more and I heard it "Entering corona." Next thing I knew I was dead. Whoops.

Once, pure (no mods).

It could be your sound card. Some sound cards are not compatible with the game. When it´s a sound that triggers the next part of the mission, sometimes it never happens.
-
The Order will never go friendly with you. They are not "officially" in the game, so they don´t have Enemies or Friends to kill or help. The Omicron Alpha´s Unknown system has nothing in it but nomads. Omicron Major and Minor are NOT available in standard MP. You need a mod to get to them.

There might have been a glitch with your FLMM, where it didn´t really turn off the mod even though you pressed to. Maybe try putting it back on, then taking it off again.
