I agree with Nickless... ...but as far as the game is concerned, it really looks stunning. Any specs been released for it yet?

I have to admit that the deletion of that thread has annoyed me somewhat. You all know that I rarely post nowadays, and in that particular case I spent a lot of time and effort trying to communicate my reasons for leaving...only to be completely ignored (not one person responded to my post) and then to have the entire thread deleted. This is exactly why the membership has dropped around here. Someone around here is on a power trip and is not honest or decent enough to stand up and admit that it was he that deleted the thread. This person is spineless imo. Whoever it was obviously felt strong enough about the thread to delete it, but now won´t even step forward to justify his actions. I´m sorry but thats just pathetic. I do not agree or disagree strongly with any of you about your comments on how this site has change, for the better or worse. IMO its actually quite black and white...the site changed hands, the new moderation made decisions that they could rightfully make, the regulars stood against a few of the decisions, the mods chose to ignore a number of the comments and clamped down, the regulars used their feet to do the talking. Its as simple as that. No matter what anyone´s opinion of the moderation around here may be, it is actually their decision to make....that doesn´t make it right, but I´d suggest anyone who still disagrees with the changes simply stands up and leaves....in the end, its the mods that own and run this place, they can do with it whatever they like. However, saying all of that the deletion of that particular thread p*ssed me off. It finally looked as if the regulars and the mods were openly discussing their issues with each other *without* a large amount of flaming. Whichever chicken sh** person deleted it, without explanation, has some serious psychological problems...the phrase "power trip" is simply not strong enough. Surely, no-one expects this place to get back to its old friendly ways if you can´t even post a genuinely constructive thread without threat of it being deleted by someone on a power trip. Why should we waste our time posting at all? Have people forgotten that the members of TLR are not just the *only* way that TLR can survive (whats the point of a site if no-one visits it?) but also are dedicated enough to take great care and attention in posting in-depth replies that they expect to be read and *not* deleted? I for one, want the person responsible to stand up, be a man and explain why he deleted that thread. Otherwise there is simply no trust left for the TLR members to rely on.

love shark is right, the iPod is worth the money for the technology alone. Its light, its compact, the sound output is awesome and yes, its seriously aesthetically pleasing. The creative zen is bulky, overcomplicated and weighty. I know because I´ve used both. Wolfy if you have got less than 5Gb of music then don´t bother with an iPod, you´re right its too expensive for what you want/need. However consider the iPod shuffle because they´re pretty handy too. iTrip alone is a damn fine reason to buy an iPod.

I had no option but to go for the 40Gb iPod. I liked the idea of having an mp3 player but couldn´t afford one that would be worthwhile to me, so I entered a load of competitions to test my luck. Just before christmas I won an iPod mini online. I figured this would be good enough, but when it turned up it was bright pink. Talk about gutted! So I stuck it onto eBay, and a young lass bought from me for £160. I threw in another £100 from my last months wage and bought myself the iPod 40Gb. Its brilliant, but don´t listen to people who say that they´re perfect. Since I´ve had it I´ve had to factory reset the thing twice. Luckily for me, I´ve got all my music backed up on my work machine...which brings me to another point... The biggest pain in the neck when it comes to mp3s is encoding everything. For the more commercial CDs, the CDDB will find all of your track details, but at least 40% of my collection is obscure so I had to hand type everything in. Its taken me the best part of a year to get all of my collection into iTunes. However the beauty is that now its done, I only have to do it when I buy a new CD. One at a time isn´t too bad. As for the stereo at home thing...I bought an iTrip, so my iPod sits on my coffee table at home and transmits to my stereo...there´s no loss in quality. Listening to my collection has never been so easy. Edited by - gromit on 1/26/2005 2:56:30 AM

Not really, I´ve got them all categorised under 23 genres and 168 artists, so believe it or not they´re actually quite easy to find. According to iTunes I currently have.... 6053 songs 18.3 days 30.97 Gb ...I had no idea that I had that much music to be honest. I think its epics though like the complete collections of Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Creedance Clearwater Revival and Bob Dylan that take up most of the space. Especially floyd - last count there was 22 albums by them alone. I´m a bit of collection freak as you might be able to tell <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

There´s no difference in sound quality when you exceed a 44KHz sample rate. MP3s all the way for me....I encoded my entire CD collection so I now have over 30Gb of music at my finger tips. Excellent for those long drives home.

I spent days and days playing the board game when I was a teenager. Its superb, but you really need to have a large amount of space where you can leave the board set up for days on end. The longest game we played lasted 4 days.

sirius is right - you´re about 12 episodes behind us over there. Everything is explained as the series progresses. Just seen part 1 of the 2 part season finale - how much did that rock??!! I just can´t imagine how this series is going to end...
-
I´m in agreement with final day, because of its alignment, position and the fact that its not been labelled, leads me to believe that this is case earthing. Would make sense too for a simple radio as it would act as a form of aerial too.

The first series has almost finished over here in the UK...and I can tell you now...it rocks <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Its excellent to see a Sci-fi with a decent script and good acting, quite refreshing in fact. It doesn´t at all rely on sfx, but when they´re needed, they´re very well done. I wasn´t sure how I was going to take to the female starbuck, but imho she equals if not betters Mr Benedict. Love it. love it. love it.

See ya around Bret. Thanks for the kind words. Stay in touch <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

IMHO its not art...it has an absence of style. Its merely an immature doodle in my opinion. Graffiti CAN be art...but that isn´t. This sort of stuff is the real grafitti art : <img src=´http://www.graffiti.pe.kr/graffiti/taiji02.jpg ´> <img src=´http://www.graffiti.pe.kr/graffiti/conductor.jpg ´>

I´m totally with these guys. I did 2 degrees - Music Technology with Electrical Engineering...and...Electronics and Audio Systems Design. I became a professional sound engineer for 5 years and then switched completely in 1997/8 to become a Web Designer. It was a huge leap at first but the money rolled in as soon as I became good at my job. I haven´t used the knowledge I learnt at university for literally years....unless I´m editing sound for a web game or site, in which case its reasonably useful. Follow your heart and the wallet will follow <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> The most important thing you have to ask yourself is also the simplest - "If I can do anything, what do I want to do for the rest of my life?" - when you´ve sorted that one, aim for it, become one of the best and then watch the money come in. HTH.
-
Me neither. I still read occasionally....just haven´t found anything I want to comment on. Just for the record, I took a backstep for a number of reasons, most of which were deleted from the aforementioned thread. I´m sure TLR will sort itself back to normal soon, whether I´ll be around to see it is something I don´t know anymore. No offence was meant to anyone. If any of you fancy a chat, please feel free to drop me an email at the profile addy. Take it easy.

lol. great subject <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> I´m afraid I can´t do 3 though, too little, I´ve listed 10 of my favourites but I can think of a dozen more at least : 1. Christian Slater as "JD" in Heathers (blows himself up on the steps of the school and winona ryder lights a cigarette from the explosion) 2. John Hurt as "Kane" in Alien (the classic, first ever, exploding chest as the alien breaks out) 3. Phil LaMarr as "Marvin" in Pulp Fiction (Vincent´s gun accidentally blows Marvins head off when they go over a bump in the road) 4. Peter Weller as "Officer Murphy" in Robocop (this scene still disturbs me even though its now so outdated, Murphy is gunned down and sadisticly has pieces of his body blown off for "pleasure". Sick stuff, but memorable at the same time) 5. Alec Guinness as "Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi" in Star Wars: A New Hope ("You can´t win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine" ) 6. Alan Rickman as "Hans Gruber" in Die Hard (There´s just something about that look on his face when he falls in slow motion) 7. Jean Reno as "leon" in Leon (...."Mathilda"....<img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>) 8. "Hal´s girlfriend" (sarah?) at the beginning of Cliffhanger (not the most inspiring movie, but a spine tingling start as Hal´s girlfriend horrificly falls to her death) 9. Sean Connery as "Jim Malone" in The Untouchables (the most hilariously terrible death scene ever filmed - an absolute classic!) 10. Sebastian Shaw as "Anakin Skywalker" in Star Wars VI : Return of the Jedi ("You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right" - not the greatest of cinematic deaths, but certainly one of the most memorable) <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Edited by - gromit on 11/16/2004 7:08:08 AM

@ff when I went over in september the exchange rate was something like $1.70 for every pound....a VERY good exchange rate. If anything, you should get a better deal on a machine like this in the US.
