  • Black hole trears a star apart

    /agrees with Heltak Somthin like a fifth of all stars become black holes and stay that way forever. That would seem to say that everything eventualy will be part of a black hole. The thing is they emit x-rays and all sorts of other stuff. If the intense conditions in the hole are transforming matter into energy (theoreticly possible. 3 grams of matter would power a 100watt lightbulb for over 85000 years!) that &quot;matter&quot; is in face leaving and there is hope for the universe <img src=smilies/icon_smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>

  • Modern Weaponry

    WW1 seems an entirely useless war. Two aliances (central powers and allies was it?) happily existing. Now Archduke Ferdinand gets shot by sombody who might have belonged to the &quot;other side&quot; so the entire continent got dragged in by the aliance, nation by nation. Germany didn´t seem to mind though. Anyway, the surrender was handled so badly it had a good hand in causing WW2. Made me think very little of Our president at the time... Wilson was it?

    C´mon. Fluffy dice are awesome!... as fan pull-chains. I have some pink fluffy dice hanging from my fan, since they look like cr*p in any car except a 70´s pimp mobile <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> Rubix cuber are great too! You fiddle with them until you... -solve them -get bored and take it apart, re-assembling it correctly I used to be able to make all sorts of neat paterns with them, but now I just mess it up. Use it or lose it... I´ll think of some useless things eventualy. Give me time...

    So humans make them eh? Well If I were a mischivous teen with a 2x4 and some rope (oh wait... I am <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>) I wouldn´t imagine for a minuite that anybody would think aliens had done it. Mt point is,the first crop circle would have apeared to me anyway to be a bunch of punks messing up my field (were I a farmer). Not aliens. ... so where did the alien Idea come from? Perhaps it´s the truth... *twilight zone theme plays*

    No there´s a really effective war weapon, one that simply sits in port and exists <img src=smilies/icon_smile_sleepy.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>. That whole attiture seems to have veiled Hitlers plans. Everything was almost like a game, like he wanted to take over the world and such but HAD to do it just so. Here´s another consideration with bigger guns. The bigger the gun, the bigger the explosion when you fire it, and the more the ship rolls (that´s why thier on big ships). That barrels is like 50 feet and the inacuracy over miles and miles... So I myself would rather have 12 15inch projectiles than 9 18.

    Not this cat. Clawing the furniture was an obsession. We tried everything in the book, but no avail. As for defenceless, she has gotten lazy in her old age and I doubt she <b>can </b> get out of the back yard. While there, she is protected by the dog, who could care less about our cat but chaces anything else with legs and some things without. However, on one ocasion where she was in the front yard (fence being built) the neighbors Akita got out and gave her a scare. Claws or not, she didn´t seem to have too much trouble climbing the big Arizona Ash tree. (I was right there, standing between them, yelling at this dog nearly as big as I am... nobody messes with my kitty <img src=smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle>)

    There must be some reason why 15/16 inchers were favored by the powers that be all through the war, with the exception of the Yamato class. Perhaps there´s some eficiency factor as you get larger. Remember, volume (and weight) increases by a factor of three relative to the linear dimension. Hmm! But surface area per unit of weight goes down! So with a given starting speed a bigger shell goes farther. Perhaps it was just economic concerns and limits imposed by ship size. Can you tell I´ve been nack to the Physics book? <img src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> On that note, why not build a destroyer class ship with one or two nice big 15-18 inch guns? Not in turrets or the thing would capsize when they were fired, but a destroyer can turn sharp enough to aim them like that. The same power as a yamato spread over 6-8 smaller, harder to hit/see, faster ships.

In some cases quite different dialects but I would say everybody here, be they English, American, or Austrailian (or ______) are speaking the same language.
