I strongly urge anyone using Vista (who has problems with it) to get Win 7. I used the Beta until license expired July 1st, and reverted back to Vista @ that time. The AV programs I was using that allowed FL to run and connect to servers previously on Vista were updated in that 6 month interim, and when I went back to Vista I was unable to connect to servers with AV installed
SO, I got the Win 7 RC and guess what? NO problems!!

^^ You can get the Win 7 Release Client ^^

^^ You would need an ISO recorder that works w/Vista to make Bootable Install DVD ^^

I don't have any reason to use Vista anymore, and I'll actaully buy Win 7 when it is released October 22. The Release Client of Windows 7 works rather well and can be used going forward into 2010. If one chooses to install this RC, remember to Back up all your stuff, and for that matter you could also create a dual-boot (install on separate partition while leaving Vista intact). If anyone needs help with any of this, post back or send me a PM. Later folks,
    LW

    DeWalt IS Black and Decker

To me, they are inferior. Bosch is a commercial grade tool, and has greater power and longer life. I have used both before as well.

For me though, I use Ryobe and it does just nicely, at a lower cost. ;)

Wow - didn't know that... My DeWalt is B&D dammit. Ah well, it's not batt. operated anyhow and I think Bosch is a very good brand overall, but remember they make almost everything - my 1st cell phone was a bosch (excellent World phone when they were still rare) and don't forget dishwashers too lol ;)

btw thanks for that FD :)

Hey did you get your MP stuff all set?

It is a vast improvement over Vista - shud be avail. in October, but stick w/XP if you have it, wait till more bugs worked out. I've been using W7 Beta since Feb. and it shows much promise I like it lots, but givit time lol

    Folks,
I would just like to add that more often than not, a virus that one contracts from a download does not come from the file or the source server; rather, it comes through an intercept point that lies between the server hosting the file and the destination (your computer). There are many points (nodes) that exist between source and destination, and often one of those along the way is where the malicious code is introduced into the packet(s) being transferred. This is not really good news, but I do believe that it is HIGHLY unlikely that the TLR server is actually hosting any type of malicious code. Any comments on this are welcomed, but do keep a decent AV updated on your Computer... All good folks - and Good Freelancing! :)

    But Knife,
    That's M.A.D. Mutual Assured Destruction
I understand your point - level field - but the answer lies (hopefully someday) elswhere, as nukes do much worse than just destroy any given target. Naive to assume we'll ever see such resolution in our lives, they shud never have been used...

    Hi -
A couple things about Vista - make sure running FL and FLMM as Admin, plus do you have the Global Server Workaround installed (as Admin)?

Maybe give that a try and sometimes AV programs get in the way even if just disabled... There are some pointers to be found by searching these forums as well. Good Luck and Good Freelancing!!

Nope, I'm not running Vista. I'm running Windows 7, and I know for a fact that 7 isn't the problem, so please don't try to tell me that it is. I'll try running everything as administrator and get back to you.

I would not tell you that - I run W7 on my laptop and I play Evolutions FL mod almost daily online without issue. If you still have probs, post back and I'll get you precise instructions.

    Hi -
I'm wondering if you are using Vista, in which case you would have to run (all things basically) as Admin. If you are using Vista, try un-installing everything then run installs and apps (FLMM 1.31) as Administrator. That might be the problem.
