I tried rigging a 50' cable ( we have verizon high speed Fios ) and it just didnt reach by 3 stinking feet ( @#%%^effin *$%# blankity blankity) -- so have to get a 75' one -- will rig it throught the ceiling so can connect directly to modem -- it has 4 extra hook ups -- the line itself is like 20 meg a sec down and 10 megs a sec up -- i think its kinda like a t1 or a t3 i cant remmeber what they mean -- its wicked damm fast -- and i use to have high speed cable and it makes roadrunner and optimun online look like snails -- At the same price ( score baby )
Yikes! 75 footer - I got 25 footers comin' out my ears and I'd even send ya a nifty RJ45 through connector! As long as ya can get on brother!

P.S. A T1 would be 1Meg and a T3 45Meg I believe, so right in-between. I get 10-15 down w/ Comcast and 2-5 up.

Hi Striker!
A screenie is good, but also your system attributes would be very helpful. As well, it always helps to have things running in background kept to a minimum. It may help to disable 3D Sound, but pixely stuff could be other things too. Get back and we'll see about trying to straighten it out

We were having a discussion the other day & couldn't decide on the right answer .... input would be greatly appreciated !

Where was FREEPORT 7 , & why aren't there any ruins like there are for Ithica ?
I'm glad you remembered to ask that - at least we have some answers! Wonder if it might be added in another update in the future - might be nice to land there eh?

Well Said BP and welcome back -- nice to have one of the originals onboard again --

Aye - all good - and @ Yellow Eagle - as to any specific Mod, I'd bet if you ask about it, someone here will offer some kind of description. I also believe more will improve regarding Mods and downloads in general as it's most likely being worked behind the scenes and is also most likely a very daunting task...
Kudos to all who work toward accomplishing that

There are a few links to different stores @ the link below - might be worth checking

according to what i understood after talking to 3 of the designers of project lonestar, is that the game was in beta testing already it was basicly complete. the team had been finishing up and removing glitches and errors within the game. Befor they could finish the project their company merged with a diffrent company and all running projects were cancled including project lonestar and project enwor. both games were nearly completed, freelancer was set to be released withing a month or so. infact one of the designers has a beta of the game and plays it so to me it looks like they should have finished both projects and then merged.
Hmm...
Beta indeed - woudn't it be interesting if someone were to pick that up and finish development? Might be very nice

Hey -
TAW - you dind't just plagiarize MrEd's previous did you? That looks ominously similar to a snappin' lawn chair one could easily use as a weapon  -
Both you guys have valid points indeed regarding MP and exposure on the net in general. I have seen some instances such as Taw mentions, but for the most part that is not so much the case where I play. There are those who take things a bit too seriously without a doubt - and a few folks have been scared away because of that
- but it is mostly like anything else, a mix of many factors. As in RL, friendships as well as enmity can form, and I guess it may be a matter (sometimes anyway) of sheer circumstance. I'll draw a correlation to the Royal Caribbean cruise I just booked (can't believe I'm spending so much flippin' $) because one expects that it will be entirely enjoyable; but, how do I know there won't be two bloody hurricanes out there - right? I'm by no means trying to make a case that anyone should play online, but there are better environments in some places than in others.
In any case, enjoy whatever endeavors you might pursue my freinds, that is all that matters

The sequel to the Zero stone is Uncharted Stars -- and thats the one i was talking about
Oh and to play Frontier space you must have original disk or you have to install the no-cd addendum -- there are 4 other addendums to the main file -- and you have to place them in thier proper places -- when your ready i will walk you thru -- its not hard -- 2 min max -- mace is the original author -- and bejyamc ( i think i spealt that correctly ) is the one who fixed it up to 1.75
I have not played online -- didnt have the time or energy in past -- am contemplating doing so in near future though -- i reinstalled frontier cause i wanted to reaquaint myself with the mod -- i have a short story idea based on a certain sector
I have played alll the wing commander games and star lancer also played elite and Loved privateer I'm also a big fan of Moo and Civ and age of empires and age of Mythology
I gotta tell you guys - I've played FL since '04 and lots mods too, but just started playin MP in November last. Ain't nuttin like it - I been told lots that it's an entirely different experience and it definitely is all that. Not sure I'll ever stop now

Find a mod you really like and a server that runs it, or - do like I did and choose one you never played in SP just to go in 'cold' and start from 0. Either way, you'll see things you've not before, find people to fly/ hunt/ fight with, and find people to argue/ fight with as well. It is a world unto itself and there is much that can be said for this fantastic form of escapism. Just my take, but why not give it a try! Later -

Mr Ed,
Yep that was hilarious and I gotta ask: how do you find all this stuff? I get more laughs from the stuff you post than I do watching (even 30 seconds of) a Presidential Address
BTW - keep it goin cuz we all know it's comin and nuttin like a good diversion
-
Hmm -
BP's link was where I got it, but dead link now. So be it - Tunicle - good stepping up to help a player out for sure. I got a feeling most anything some player may want or need can be found either amongst the downloads here, or the members...
-
I got it from FL homepage when you load the game from your disk you can go there

Thank you Thank you Thank you, in all the forums and gaming sites i've been to, i've never seen anything to help handicap gamers before, this is trully a blessing, there are a lot of people that are challenged in their life, that spend alot of time on the net.
But don't play because of accessibility problems that would play otherwise.
Its like another game that i've played since it came out Stalker shadow of chernobyl, Freelancer is open ended ,stalker isn't but you can go anywhere on the maps, and back to the start points,it gives months and months of enjoyment. and some or most of the mods are open ended, many games are corridor games and can be beat in a matter of hours, and then just set on the shelf. Game developers don't see the handicapped side of gaming, alot of handicapped or challenged people are very intelligent and intuitive, like my buddy who became challenged later in life,he's 62,retired army,100% handicapped,70% of his time is taken up by playing games.
it keeps his mind active(boy i need a spell cherker) sorry about the long post
I'm 52 and only been playing for7 or 8 years, I don't believe in cheating on games
never played on line, don't know how to go about it,he doesn't either,i'm going to learn how to mod freelancer, have played the game for along time and loved it. it's exploring, and charting and exciting. Microsoft shouldn't have given up on this game, they should give the code base to the community,to code from the origanal core of the game, I wish to Thank Knife for putting this feature in the forums
just an oldgamer
Yellow EagleI'm a Native American and an Elder in my peoples eyes,i did'nt understand Wisdom till i became an Elder, then found i was just learning it

With all you have said,
You are at least one of the most valuable members of this community. Beyond that, remember this:
All people here work towards improving the Freelancer community, and although sometimes a very important aspect of improvement might be missed initially, we do get input and people such as yourself help along the way - so I Thank You
Come on and play - it's fun you know... -

Yes i remmeber that -- it was about industrial espionage and they thought he was leaking secrets -- they were also very cutting edge on thier tech -- the aliens had a liquid oxygen thing -- and they talked about space very realistically -- and you had to love the girls on the moon base 8-)
They thought he was "secured" in Straker's SHADO office, but wtf? GONE in a heartbeat. That showed a couple things: The relationship of trust between Straker and Foster was highlighted in a very spontaneous moment, and it showed the drastic nature of what the show was all about. That Ep could've been named "Drastic Measures" and it would've worked. Movie production - yeah right!! Great cover though...
Another Ep. worthy of mention - I'll call it "Prelude to Enemy Mine" where Foster is stuck in the open on the Moon w/ an Alien stuck out there as well. That showed true writing and acting prowess and genuine drama is hard to come by these days...
The girls on the Moon base and @ SHADO HQ... no-brainer...

The Lakehouse by Rachel Portman
Take My Breath Away by Berlin
All Time High (from Octopussy) by Cincinnati Pops Orchestra (instrumental)
Tonight You Belong to Me by Paul Stanley
And the 2 best ones,
I Want to Know What Love Is by Foreigner
Waiting for a Girl Like You by Foreigner
Yikes!
I can't believe I forgot about the (Live) version of I Want to Know What Love Is ...
That might actually top the list. Wish I'd got the chance to see them...
My goodness - lol@ Taw - Almost forgot- I have ABBA's Greatest Hits, and they were, after all, the most popular band ON THE PLANET for at least a dacade...

-
Aw,
C'mon Taw - if he started out w/ Silly Love Songs, I might consider agreeing with you sort of, but those choices are really good ones on the part of Mr. Ed. I personally really liked Interstate Love Song by STP until I realised they borrowed a rif from Jim Croce. Still, I'd still like to add:
Your Song -- don't think I need to say who...
Annie's Song -- John Denver, maybe his best
and...
Radar Love -- Golden Earring (don't need a letter at all!)
That last one might not be the most romantic, but it is about the seriousness and motivation of Love...
Happy Valentine's all!
