You shouldn't be afraid of IRC, it is very helpful and knowledgeable at most times.

So, hop along. The more people means the more fun! Don't worry, your computer won't explode if you go on it. You won't be tracked by authorities. You won't be harmed in any way (except electronically, if you get offended by words, but this will try to be prevented most of the time). You won't be sent pornography by users. You will be safe!

So, IRC is very fun and safe! Just don't give out your "actual" identity, i mean, first name is alright, however your address, phone number or surname is a big no-no!

Just Click Here to start chatting! Also, try to use a unique nickname. Since, there are a lot of people on this IRC Network, but on different channels (so they won't all be spying on you).

    Well, come and enjoy.

Also, if you have any concerns, please send me a PM and i'll be happy to answer it, thanks :)

I can see where you didn't have any problems with the 86 series, but I've got 32. And your XP SP2...I can understand where you wouldn't have any problems, but not really at the same time.

XP 32 was meant for home / student use. No real firewalls, blocking programs, ect.
XP 64 was meant for networking, so I can understand why you wouln't have a problem, yet with SP2, I kinda wonder...

Vista 32 was meant for home / student, but had it's security features set way too high. Supposed to help with parental contrtol.
Vista 64 once again was meant for marketing, and had the same security problems, but god knows how many times worse than 32.
Vista 86 though is only for businesses, like corporates, so I have to ask how you got it? 86 has most of the bugs fixed in it, so I can see why you wouldn't have a problem...

I pretty much know all this ;) If you had read, i have X32 and X86 for Vista. And X64 for Windows XP on SP2.

like an irc channel but one-on-one support. I've got a couple other sites I help people with Vista problems, so i wanted to set up a help desk system on my site.

Well, a live chat support service costs money to setup and host. Also, you'll need to be online, like, 24/7.

It would be best to just setup an IRC Channel, and let other users help each other whilst you're not there ;)

Do you want me to make an IRC Channel for you?

The first time I installed Freelancer on my C:\ drive and i could play vanilla fine, but not mods nor was i aloud to modifiy it. So I had uninstall it and reinstall it on my D:\ drive. I was now able to play mods and mod myself, but no online. SO then I had to remove all Norton from my computer, and trial and error a few other anti-viruses until we found one that didn't block me from playing online.

And then everything was fine except for every once and a while my font size blows up really big for no reason and i have to uninstall and reinstall Freelancer.

Really? I have x86 and x32 for Vista and x64 for SP2 for XP. I never had to go through that. I wonder why?

On my website, Technological Colony, I've figured out how to make drop down menus, and make it so you can select files to download from them. But I was wondering if there's a way to make a small pop-up window appear that tells you about the item you want to download with the button to download it at the bottom? I figured out that I could make it open in a new window with a blank (text only) hmtl document, but I don't know how to control the size of it. Any help would be great.

    You'll need JavaScript.

    <a href='Link' OnMouseOver='alert('You have selected blah');' />

So what about helping other who aren't as fortunate?

What do you mean "aren't as fortunate"? It should work on every Windows Vista, XP and 2000 Computer! So there's really no point. Why? What did you have to go through to install Freelancer on Windows Vista?

Sorry for the previous outburst, me and MC were arguing again that day.

Now on to what I should have said that will help this community. Since you are like me, and are not having any problems, or at least have figured out how to fix them, why not help others like I have done and show them some of the things you have done to keep yours working. I'm going to leave the poll to see how others feel too, but as I said, why not help others since you know how to?

Umm, ok, here's what i did to get it working:

    • I inserted the disk.
    • The Freelancer menu appeared, asking me to install.
    • I can press Install or Express Install.
    • It'll ask where to install it, i chose C:.
    • I also pressed install all files (not serverside files).
    • It then started installing. I waited.
    • On the next menu, it told me to restart my computer, so i did.
    • After the restart had completed, i started playing Freelancer in storyline mode.
    • I enjoyed the graphics, the game-play and interface.

    That works ^ :D

ok, didn't know about that file, thank you.

On another note, is it possible to create your own shield / weapon type instead of only what tehy have there?

    Yes.

Apply the QuickFix 1.0c Patch for Freelancer ;) That'll update all your INI files ;)

I managed to go fine with Freelancer on my Vista Home Premium (SP1) 32-bit on the C hard-drive. Don't see what's wrong. I just installed it and played it :D
