ah...fourth of july come and gone...taking with it my only weekend off for a long time Fireworks here in IA are illegal (except those sparklers and snap thingies). Of course that doesn´t stop many of us to make a quick run to missouri. the VERY first thing you´ll see as soon as you leave iowa and enter missouri is a fireworks store. Hilarious I enjoy fireworks, although this year´s were kinda blah... Last year the grand finale of the 4th of july fireworks was an explosion the size of the queen mary on the local river that rose the ambient temp enough to pop many of the blue/red/white balloons on the bridge where we were watching! Great stuff, of course, I´m have a somewhat dangerous infatuation with fire and anything fire related

A 49. "Ooohh - you must tread very carefully on the path of life. The battle between Light and Dark is raging over you. Your soul is finely balanced and you are vulnerable. You can feel the force - but you are also weak to the powers of the Dark side. It is hard to see: easy and tempting. But once you start on that path your fate is decided. Be wary!" Blah, I´ll just be a mercenary doing good or evil as long as it pays enough!

Although for the most part I´m your model citizen, there´s just something alluring about the dark side. I mean c´mon, the light side is BORING . Deep down inside I´ll admit that I´d be evil

@ Chips - Ok, here´s what I did, it may be what you said to do, but I didn´t really understand what you said (not your fault, just my crappy understanding of math and chem ) s

Actually need help. I´m doing horrible in chem I know there is something about how when mass is decreased there is some sort of energy loss, but I don´t know how to set up the equation so that I can figure out how much energy is released.

You want a real homework question? All right then, this is from my Principles of Chemistry II course. "How much energy is lost or gained when a mole of cobalt-60 undergoes beta decay: 60/27 Co -----> 0/-1 e + 60/28 Ni? The mass of the the 60/27 Co atom is 59.933819 amu, and that of a 60/28 Ni atom is 59.930788 amu. For reference the mass of an electron is 5.4858 x 10^-4 amu." There, a real honest homework question EDIT: I can´t place the elements in their correct form so whenever there is a "#/#" it´s not division, it´s simply stating that the first number is above the second. Ok here´s one. There are two trains. One from Chicago, the other from Los Angeles. They are both traveling towards Panama City, FL. The train from Los Angeles is moving at a speed so that it will reach Panama City exactly two hours before the train leaving from Chicago. Now assuming that the train from Chicago must also make a two hour layover in Knoxville, Tenn., at what time would both trains need to leave from their respective stations and at what speed would both need to be traveling in order to meet the requirement of the LA train reaching Panama City two hours before the Chicago train. Hint: Assume the trains will be traveling in a straight line. A cookie to anyone who gets the answer. Have fun! Edited by - Sylverfysh on 4/3/2005 9:17:54 PM

One day while cleaning out my closet I opened a box and found TONS (like a good 4 or 5 dozen) of the silverfish insect crawling everywhere. I freaked out. I´m secure in my masculinity, so I´m not ashamed to say that during that incident I screamed like a six year old girl Anyways, seeing as that is one of the more traumatizing moments in my life, from then on my nickname was "Silverfish." However, most of the time that name is taken already for who knows what reason, perhaps other instances like mine? So I decided to pay homage to Lynyrd Skynyrd EDIT: Here´s a silverfish. *shudder* Edited by - Sylverfysh on 3/31/2005 10:54:57 AM

I find the statement "If you don´t fear death, you must have nothing to live for" offensive. I have plenty to live for. My family and friends seems to be a pretty good reason to stay alive. Who are you to say that just because I don´t fear death means that there is nothing worthwhile in my life? Yes, it would be sad not being with them anymore, but that doesn´t mean I have to fear dying. Edited by - Sylverfysh on 3/9/2005 8:53:41 AM

@ Wolf: Just wondering if you are talking about highschool or college? My old highschool never gave us a week off for spring break so I suppose I wasn´t bothered by it. Of course, now that I go to college and get a week, those paltry two days DOES se

I can comprehend no longer existing, but that´s not so scary. What´d be scary is the unknown I suppose. But if it came to dying or becoming a murderer, I´d much rather chose death than to be known as a someone who would wrongfully take the lives of others. So again, to me, dying isn´t the worst thing that can happen. I´ve come to accept that we all have limited time being alive and fear of death shouldn´t ruin the what life we have left. All very interesting stuff from you people I have the weirdest feeling now actually. I´ve come to no longer be scared of dying. I mean, not to the point where I´m going to go "Let´s grab some guns and go a hoot hollerin´ good old fashioned cattle rustle!" But I´ve decided that dying definitely isn´t the worst thing could happen so someone. I think it´s because in my dream when I was dying I wasn´t afraid. Pah, but who knows? Perhaps I´ve just been overstressed EDIT: Perhaps I should also say that the fire was started by someone else, like arson. I don´t know who it was though. Edited by - Sylverfysh on 3/8/2005 9:26:29 AM

@ Alpha_Leader: Do you mean as in heaven or hell? I don´t know if this violates the religion rule we have, but I´d hope I was going to Heaven

I would say that´s true to a degree. While there are people who clearly only care about themselves regardless of the circumstances, for the most part, people are good natured and helpful. Of course under stress and other situations, logic goes flying out the window. We humans, even though being the most advanced species on the planet, still have that "animal instinct" within us. Think of it sort of as a reflex. What happens when you accidently touch a hot pan? You pull hand back immediately. It´d take very strong will power to keep your hand there purposefully. Surivival is sort of like that. When all hell is loose and crazy stuff if happening left and right, our survival instincts will kick in. Your logical mind will somewhat relinquish some control over your thoughts and mind to your survival instinct. And there are also people who become trained or already to act this way, such as firefighters, policemen, people in the armed services. Oh yeah, and hollywood action heroes EDIT: Sorry just realized that this doesn´t really answer your question at all. Apologies Edited by - Sylverfysh on 2/25/2005 1:39:53 PM

I´m afraid a graphics card over 50-60 dollars is a graphics card I won´t be getting. I´ve survived this long without one, and since I don´t purchase new games anymore for my computer (if I have any money laying around it goes towards my PS2), I´m just looking for something to make the oldies I do have run a bit smoother. Somehow I knew I´d get responses from both sides. Thanks for the advice, even though its on the contradictory side.

When I used to game a lot I´d always levitate towards a ranger to eventually a swashbuckler. I liked the idea of out in the wilderness, with only my animal companions hunting and foraging. Eventually the idea of being a rascally rogue with a flair for showmanship appealed to me more. Besides, it´s fun to break the law P.S. I do not condone the breaking of any laws in real life however. Shame on you!
